EXCERPT
The
streetlamps cast soft cones of light on the sidewalks all the way
through the neighborhood. Greta pointed things out as she remembered
them. “That’s where my friend Danielle used to live. I guess she
probably still lives there.”
“Are you looking forward to seeing her again?”
She
nodded. “And if I remember correctly, she’s more hyper than a Mylean
berserker—only less ripping and tearing, and more frenzied hugging and
constant talking.”
The
rumble of his amused chuckle made her grin. He squeezed her hand. She
looked up at him, and it hit her. “You know, this is kind of like a
date,” she said, tingles of awareness dancing up her spine.
His
smile was crooked, and his eyes warm as he laid his arm across her
shoulders, making her feel like he would rather be here with her right
now than anywhere else. It probably wasn’t true. They were both too
worried about Mylena for it to ever leave their minds completely, but
maybe one day it would be true.
“What
would be the purpose of a date?” There was such a thing as courtship in
Mylena, but she and Isaac had pretty much bypassed anything resembling
normal…in both worlds.
What
if she was wrong and the portal didn’t open again? What if they stayed
here? There could be more nights just like this, and eventually maybe
they would get a place of their own and… “You know, so a couple can get
to know one another and decide if they like each other.”
“But
we already know we like each other.” When they were alone like this and
his voice softened because he trusted her enough to let down his guard,
it did crazy things to her. Like popping candy hitting her bloodstream.
“Even more important, we know that we fit together. In battle together,
or planning for Mylena’s future, even while arguing…and definitely when
I kiss you…nobody fits me like you do.”
My Review
When I finished the last sentence, I emailed Ms Jacobs and said "oh my God!!" I mean what do you say to the ending of a trilogy that was one of the best I've ever read. First, in the beginning, it was the world building and creativity of characters and creatures. Now, in the end, it's the great depth of characters that I am desperately holding on to!! I completely love Isaac, Greta, Siona, and Wyatt. And ps, I know a little secret but I can't tell you :) just know this- there's always hope for everyone!!! :) This book has been everything I've been waiting for and more!!! I am not gunna lie, I seriously cheered hardcore for that one moment, when everything falls into place and it's finally all about Chloe and Isaac, as people and a couple, not all their baggage and responsibility. The romance was building to this moment and I can't believe how excellently written it really was!! And the ending- the actual last chapter, I swear I cried happy tears, but there's some bitter sweet moments I could help either.
I love a lot of the characters but things are really different when the myleneans go to Greta's world. They don't understand a lot. And I really really got sad, it almost didn't make that HEA for Greta and Isaac. There's so much that is meant to tear them apart. And I really loved how Greta realized who she was, what she was, and where she really needed to be. And that she can stand on her own, but it's always nice to have two best friends and an excellent boyfriend to back you up ;)
Isaac... Sweet baby Jesus, he's every woman's perfect book boyfriend. He's the best of everything... Protective but understanding to her independence and accomplishments, sweet and yet fierce, strong but gentle, and sexy as all get out!! You know, I almost didn't like him in the beginning of the series. But of course he won me over, just like he does everyone else. He's Greta's perfect other half. And he's a freaking goblin king!!!
And just because we're in the human world doesn't mean the bad guy is less important. Agramon is just as freaking scary, or more so!! He's the perfect creepy bad guy!! And Greta and Isaac must save not just Mylena now but the human Earth Too!! I am completely fascinated by the beautiful creation of this whole world!! I was so sorry for Greta in the beginning for being there but every step led her to now and this is where she is destined to be. Oh oh and I can't forget, everyone must read the prologue- we finally get Isaac's back story!!!!! And the end.... Big big big smiles!!! And I'm saying goodbye.... For now... ;) I can't say this enough- don't miss out on this trilogy, it's completely phenomenal!!!! Infinite PAWS!!! It's deserved- but the scales only allow me 5 LOL!!!

5 Places Greta Would Want to Take Isaac in the Human World (Greta and
the Lost Army by Chloe Jacobs)
In
book 3 of the Mylena Chronicles, Greta and the Lost Army, Greta and
Isaac have found themselves in the most unlikely of places…the
HUMAN WORLD.
There’s
still a lot going on in Mylena that makes this a charged issue
between them, but if Greta had unlimited resources and time, she
would want to take the opportunity to show Isaac some of her
world:
- Italy –In Italy, Greta would teach Isaac all about the history of human nature. From the ancient wars between Rome and Greece, to the Italians of today who are renowned for their passionate love of life. It would also be a great place to see what humans have been capable of creating through imagination and innovation throughout history, with all that beautiful art and architecture. Plus, it’s like the world capital of amazing food, and since Mylena is so barren Greta would love introducing him to all the new and decadent tastes.
- Thailand – I think Thailand would be a wonderful country to show Isaac that there are beautiful, untouched places in the human world where the natural environment has been respected and maintained. Although there are definitely modern cities, the typical community is still the farming village, fishing village, or rubber plantation. Granted, there are also lessons for Isaac and Greta to learn here about politics, as well.
- Egyptian Pyramids – This would be another ultimate history lesson, the best place to teach Isaac something about human development. Plus, he would totally get a kick out of the pyramids, trying to figure out how they were built.
- Nashville, Tennessee – Mylena doesn’t know what music is, but Isaac really loves when Greta sings, so she’ll want to bring him to a place where music is more than just background noise, it’s embedded in the culture. The great place about Nashville is it’s not just for country music. It embraces all music, and encourages new artists to be different and unique. That’s something that Greta and Isaac want to bring back with them to Mylena.
- Malaysia – Mylena has been trapped in a curse of neverending ice and cold for hundreds of years, and so Greta would love to show Isaac just what the opposite looks like – a place where warmth and sunshine are year-round. Malaysia’s rainforest is lush and green, where Mylena is stark and white. Isaac’s wild nature would have a great time exploring.
There
are so many other places, that Greta would put on her list if there
was time for everything. What would you
want
to show someone from Mylena to help them understand humans a little
bit better?

About the Author
Chloe Jacobs is a native of nowhere and everywhere, having jumped around
to practically every Province of Canada before finally settling in
Ontario where she has now been living for a respectable number of years.
Her husband and son are the two best people in the entire world, but
they also make her wish she’d at least gotten a female cat. No such
luck. And although the day job keeps her busy, she carves out as much
time as possible to write. Bringing new characters to life and finding
out what makes them tick and how badly she can make them suffer is one
of her greatest pleasures, almost better than chocolate and fuzzy pink
bunny slippers.
