Daemoneum
Laney McMann
(The Primordial Principles #2)
Published by: Jagged Lane Books
Publication date: July 2016
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

Boulder, Colorado is too quiet, and no one needs to remind Cole Spires how unnatural that is.
In the aftermath of Dracon’s death, the Daemoneum have gone into hiding. Every known Hive has been shut down and evacuated, and for the first time in Cole’s memory, the Brotherhood, Kinship, and all common houses across the country and abroad are considering lockdown. Leygates are being systematically closed around the world, and the Primordial are waiting …
In the bunker underneath the Brotherhood, Kade Sparrow is as safe as she can possibly be, or that’s the idea, but no one can explain how her Astrum necklace found its way into her bedroom. There were no footprints, no traces of breaking and entering, no evidence of any kind that someone had infiltrated the Brotherhood common house. Yet the necklace still sat on her night stand, wound in a perfect circle of gold, the tiny star glinting on its chain. And the only person who could have put it there … is dead.
In the second installment of The Primordial Principles, strange occurrences are happening across the globe. Relationships will be tested, old players will become new, foes will turn into allies, and an unlikely adversary will force Cole and Kade to go on the run.
As the fallen rise, the Primordial must unite as one.
Or all could be lost.

Happy Book Birthday~ Crystallum by Laney McMann w Giveaway!

Crystallum
Laney McMann
(Primordial Principles #1)
Published by: Booktrope Publishing
Publication date: October 25th 2015
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

Kadence Sparrow wasn’t born a devil’s child—she was turned into one. Now, she’s hiding from the truth, and running for her life.
For years, Kade’s true nature has lurked behind an illusion, so when her dad gets another job transfer, she knows the drill: no close friends, no boyfriends, and most importantly: don’t expose what she is. Ever. Keeping secrets is easy. Lies are second nature. So is the loneliness—and the fear, but when the Shadows attack, and Kade meets Cole Spires, she could expose everything she’s trying to hide.
As one of the Celestial Children, Cole lives by an oath: defend the Ward, protect the Primordial race, guard the gateways, and stick to his own. Everything else is a distraction, and besides, he’s lost enough. Cole’s job is clear, and no one his age does it better. So, when he meets Kade in a club downtown, he assumes she just wants his attention. Most girls do, but Cole soon realizes … Kade isn’t like most girls.
The children of heaven and hell are living among us, fighting an age-old war. And falling for someone from the opposition is not an option. But a chance encounter between Kade and Cole will blur the rules, as Kade’s journey to keep her truth hidden catapults them together and into a web of lies, forcing her to not only face the demon inside her, but to answer the hardest question of all.
Which is thicker—blood or water?

EXCERPT:
PLUMB STOOD in the driveway, hands on her hips, a piece of bright yellow paper in her hand. Cole groaned, exhausted, as he made his way toward her. The only light was a dim one above the door on the Brotherhood’s front porch.
Plumb waved the paper in the air. “It’s four fifteen in the morning, and I’m afraid to even venture why I received a notice for you to appear in front of the Warden later today. And Danny has nothing to say, which could only mean one thing—” Plumb looked him up and down. “With the condition you’re in, I’m not sure I want to know where you’ve been.”
“You probably don’t.” Cole held his hand out for the summons.
Plumb handed the paper over, scowling, and Cole slipped it, unopened, into his pocket.
“Are you going to tell me where you’ve been?”
“Thought you didn’t want to know.” He walked toward the porch. There was a time, when Cole was much younger, that he never would have spoken so bluntly to his Lead, but those days, buried by all of his new responsibilities within the Ward, had faded. They were close to equals now, even though Plumb was about fifteen years older.
“Cole.”
“I’m tired as hell. I’ve been up all night.” He turned to face her. “Okay? I need to get some sleep.”
“What were you doing in the middle of the night that the Principals couldn’t handle?”
“A girl.”
“Excuse me?”
“No…I, no, I wasn’t doing a girl. She just…never mind.” He headed for the door, flustered. The last thing he needed to do was think about Kadence like that. His brain already went into some kind of jumble every time her name was mentioned, and it was bad enough that she’d had her hands all over him.
“You were with Tiffany? Until four in the morning?” Plumb sounded like a disapproving mother. “Cole, I understand you’re seventeen, and boys—”

“I was with Kadence.” He wished she would shut up.

My Review

Oh my sweet holy goodness!!! Ok so I absolutely obsessively adored Ms Laney's Fire Born series. But... I think she may have out done herself here. I won't lie- this writer fascinates me with her excellent skills of placing words together that make me seriously emotional. And she's definitely creative. But here, well, it's not really angels and Demons. It's more what's become of those angels and Demons since coming to the mortal plane. And it's not just a teenage romance. It's so very much more than that.

So Kadence- aka Kade- is our leading lady. She's always moves around with her father, so she has no friends, no real experience with normal teenage life, and she's really wanting something more. But she's not human. In fact she's a monster, or so she thinks herself to be. So when she goes with her new friends- she desperately wants them to be her friends- to a club, she sees the shadows stalking her. Now she's been on the run for a long time from a demon, and those shadows signify his presence. But when she doesn't expect is to see a boy get rid of those shadows. Only something she can do, because no one is like her. And here we meet Cole. But gimme a second... Kade is almost your typical teenage girl except she broke my heart. No she didn't have the horrible past but she had a really sad one. Who could live without friends. I can't imagine. And I never expected at the end that "that" was they why. Yeah I can't go there yet either. So Kade is sweet though and she's going to find herself, because she will gain friends, and love, and knowledge and experience. That right there is what made me love watching her go through the hard parts.

Now Cole. Oh holy Hawtness. He's your rebellious good guy. Yes yes, he's a good guy. He's one to break the rules but he always wants to make sure it turns out alright. He wants to protect others and help keep them save and ignorant too. His best friend Danny cracked me up the whole book. He's not just a best friend he's a little comic relief and the entire rational thought of the group. But Cole has had some struggles too and sometimes he feels he needs to prove something. The dad issue is just one example. And when he really starts fighting for Kade and with Kade, there's no going back. And man oh man was it a beautiful disaster to watch! I think I love them both and they are my new favorite power couple!!

Ok so the plot just about blew my mind. I can't explain it without ruining it so I will be very basic. Good needs to fight against evil to keep all us humans safe. Yeah that's good. Lol and the world building and explanations to everything is so damn awesome. Yeah my vocabulary lacks but it's just awesome so I'll go with that. I almost had my heart wrenched out of my chest at the end. There's fantastic side characters- her two besties, Jake, Ms Plumb... I really must say the set of characters definitely made me feel like I was completely invested with them. I know them. They are my friends. And I really didn't even know what the hell to say to that part about him and him because the bad guy will blow your ever loving socks off. I was literally slack jawed and shocked and then wanted to crawl into a ball and hug myself and cry... For that person. No I can't tell you! But I so badly want to. I've never wanted to give spoilers until now- because I want everyone to know how fantastic this book is- but you should find out for yourself. Ms Laney, when you read this- you need to give yourself a high five, a par on the back, and a margarita with chocolate on the side. This book is flipping brilliant! And I will hug you one day for always letting me be a part of your fantastically created worlds! Thank you for that! And I am absolutely DYING for book two... Hahahaha! I don't know how else to tell you this book is a phenomenal beginning to this new series and I seriously urge you to try it. Seriously-you won't be able to put it down either! Since it's significant, I will not give paws today... I will give 5 BEAUTIFUL SPARROW AND FALCON WINGS! Yeah that part is just awesome too but I can't tell you about that either ;)

AUTHOR BIO:
I'm a product of very creative parents and the most imaginative grandmother ever. I have an untapped passion for the supernatural and all things magical. My voracious appetite for reading fantasy started really young ~ and so did my love of words.

By the time I reached my teens, I'd accumulated notebooks full of poems, which I never shared. Poems led to short stories and short stories led to novels.

Now, I write young adult dark urban fantasy novels mixed with a spike of romance, a hint of history, a dash of mythology, and lots of paranormal.

In 2010, I began writing The Fire Born Novels which released September 2013. It's about loss, love, friendship, Irish mythology, and embracing who we are born to be.

The second book in the trilogy, TORN, released in 2014. It's much deeper and darker than TIED. It's a little creepy. It's also my favorite of the trilogy.

The third book, TRUE, will be released in 2015.

In addition, the first book in the Primordial Principles series, CRYSTALLUM, will release in the fall of 2015.

I like creating other worlds because let's face it ~ this can't be all there is. On the non-writing side of life, I'm a former classical dancer, an unabashed music snob, used-to-be-chef, and a right-brained thinker to a fault. I love tea, hate the winter, and when I'm not dreaming up new dead ends to torture myself with, I can be found running. Maybe.

Oh, and all myths and legends are true. But you know that, right?

I am published by J. Taylor Publishing and Booktrope.

True by Laney McMann
(Fire Born #3)
Publication date: September 2015
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

Synopsis:
Nothing in Layla and Max’s world will ever be the same.
Since Max left, and joined his father in the Shadow Realm, everything in Layla’s life has changed. The Demon Gods threaten to destroy the Otherworld, and an inconceivable darkness has awakened—a darkness that wants control of Layla’s will. It also wants Max … dead. Not only must Layla face the true fire simmering inside her, but fight the one she loves most.
And this time, with her friends and family left behind, she’s completely on her own.
Leaving Layla nearly destroyed Max, but it was his only choice. Now, he must play the part—stay in control of his end goal, his actions, and the poison coursing through his veins, clouding his thoughts, and turning him into what he fears most, a Demon God. But even with his Oghams fighting the toxins, his control is slipping. Living in the Fomore castle with his Vampyre Fae ex-girlfriend isn’t making it any easier to stay sane, and waiting to face off against Layla is taking its toll.
In the final installment of the Fire Born Novels trilogy, the legendary Battle will be fought, and Layla and Max stand to lose everything. How far will they go to save each other and protect the ones they love? Even they don’t know the answer.
No one can win.
From the ashes of old,
They shall rise.
The last of the Ancients,
Foe and Ally.
The Legend lies in wait,
And bides its time.
Until at last the day comes,
For the children born of fire.

My Review

I have been obsessed with this series for forever! The author loved me enough, seriously I will kiss her if I ever meet her, that she sent me an autographed paperback copy for me to read early. Let me tell you how I made noise when I opened that package. LOL But back to goodness. There has been so many things that happened in this series. Which I immediately went back and read books one and two before I cracked open book three. I seriously had doubts that Max and Layla would ever be able to have love, real love, with everything going against them.  And I'm not ashamed to say I cried like a baby at the end. Seriously. Wept. Ugly, red, snotty, cried. And it was the most beautiful ending I think I've ever read. But I should have expected this, because this author is seriously talented. I never was one for angels. I do love me some demons. But this is more along the myths. With demi gods and the Morrigan, and demons, and so much much more. It's so hard to tell you things without going into detail or giving spoilers for the first two books or ruining this one for you.

*sigh* This is the end of Max and Layla. And all of the people who have surrounded them that we've come to love. Max went to hell to save Layla. Layla went to hell to save Max. Oh, and there's some kickers that will blow your mind. Who each of their parents are. What the curse really means. What happened in the past to make this all come to happen. Who each of their families are and what that means for the whole world. And it comes down to this. King Elethan will do anything to make sure he gets the power over all, no matter who he has to kill to get that. It comes down to Max and Layla. For this to happen, one must kill the other. So, King E has Max already, he sends for Layla to come into his territory to train for the battle. He says it's courtesy. LOL!! And he knows the Morrigan is with Layla, so he will get what he wants with her as well.

I swear Justice, Benny, and Tristan are my favorite characters. I know I love Max and Layla, it's a given because of who and what they are. But seriously, I loved our little posse that had their backs for this whole journey. Justice became me serious crust in this whole thing. Can I have him!! They all changed so much. Layla went from a girl who thought she lost her mind and her memories, Max went through the boyish I will do it even if it kills me, to I will love you and I will stand by you no matter what. Benny probably changed the least, but that's ok because she was awesome as is. Justice and Tristan grew because they finally came out of their shells. Literally, seeing as what they were LOL. When it came to the end, other than crying, I think I was just breathless. Because this series is seriously that good.

There are no words with the writing. It's something magical when words on a page can make you feel so much. This author has magic in her fingers, and brain. :) She made the world for this story so believable. And coveted. I want to be there with them. I felt I was. And she also made it simple in all its complexity- TRUE. Be who you are, love conquers evil, the light will always chase away the dark. You just have to fight for it. This is beyond a magical journey of fictional characters. This is a beautiful story that will hold true through time just like Max and Layla did. Oh I made a pun LOL But on a serious note. READ THIS SERIES!!! If I could tell you of a series everyone should read, it's this one. Because it's just that awesome. And there's no PAWS here. I mean come one, there's aren't enough clicks for a rating here. I need infinite. My expectations were blown out the water with this ending and I couldn't have said it enough! Asolutely, wonderfully, magnificent 6 PAWS, that rare rating I throw out because it really earned it!
