Mated in Mist by Carrie Ann Ryan Review Tour!

MATED IN MIST BY CARRIE ANN RYAN- BLOG TOUR

Mated in Mist - FB Ad - Ryder

Blurb:

The Talon Pack continues with an outcast witch and a wolf who can see past the darkness.

As Heir to the Talon Pack, Ryder Brentwood carries the responsibility of not only protecting his Pack, but ensuring its future. Only no one knows that as he does this, he must also shield his people from their past. When a witch with no ties bursts into his life, he must decide if he can overcome the depravity of his secrets and trust the one person who could break the fragile hold on his control.

Grieving over the loss of her twin and on the run from the unknown, Leah Helm knows she is far more alone than she thought possible. Her coven shunned her before she was born and the wolves she sought protection with are in a war of their own. When a wolf with a whisper of secrets is forced to work with her in order to protect their people, she finds she might not be so alone after all.

The world knows more than they ever have before about those shrouded in darkness, while Ryder and Leah are thrust into the center of a conflict they never should have been part of to begin with. On their journey they must not only fight those against them, but the burning temptation that is flaring between them. Fate might have paved their path, but that doesn’t mean they have to follow.

My Review

I love this series and I really enjoy the continuing plot line. This was definitely a favorite and it's emotional. The shifters are still trying to prove they aren't evil killing machines to the humans since they've been revealed. I have fallen in love with all of them and I still haven't read the redwood pack series yet. But no matter, I plan on reading every word lol now this one is about Ryder and Leah. We saw a moment at the end of the last book when she and her brother Roland appeared but we knew nothing about them. Now we get to learn.

So first we have Leah. She's a powerful witch but she isn't welcome in a coven. Her and her brother have been on the run almost their whole lives. Leah's past makes me want to cry and hug her. And yet she still finds good somehow. She is quite shocked and overwhelmed that this pack of wolves willingly helps her and even protects her. She was told they are always vicious killing machines. And now with her brother dead, she has no one, well not any more. She will learn. I am proud of Leah for all she has over come. And I'm so glad she met Ryder and even though she had to fight for it, finally heals herself and him.

Ryder is the heir to the pack. He must stand in place of his brother, the alpha, when he can't. He must protect his pack. He's also got a sad past. And he fights tooth and nail against being Leah's mate. He thinks he's too broken for her. And his past alpha and pack tortured him. He's cursed and he won't bring Leah down with him. Thank goodness she never listened lol. His curse is kinda cool though it's devastating until he learns about it. He hides his curse from everyone including his pack, but Leah helps him.

Then some crazy things happen that puts a crazy witch coven joining with the pack but Leah is a complication and Ryder refuses to back down from his protection of her. The crazy terrorists of humans has gotten out of control. Kidnapping, torturing, murdering werewolves. And the action and mystery and romance just make it so much more appealing. This series is like a drug, so addicting. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out!! So of course it's another 5 PAWS  from me! :)

Guest Post:

Mated in Mist is out in the world! What a long strange journey these worlds have taken me. I first started my writing career with the Redwood Pack series back in 2010. An Alpha's Path (Redwood Pack Book 1) released in Dec of 2011 and since then I've released 8 full books and 6 novellas in the series. And because I wanted to see what happened when I looked at different wolves, a different Pack in the world, I started the Talon Pack series.

Wicked Wolf started it all as a bridge between the Redwood Pack and Talon Pack worlds.

Tattered Loyalties was the book that changed the world I created irrevocably.

An Alpha's Choice was the book that broke me because of who the characters were.

Mated in Mist is the book that healed me...even if it broke me a little bit as well.

The journey the Brentwoods are taking within the Talon Pack has only just begun. There are some heavy hitters coming as well as a few surprises.

I cannot wait for you to read Mated in Mist. I hope you love it as much as I loved writing it.

Excerpt:

“Is he staring?” Leah asked.

Charlotte’s eyes danced and she looked over Leah’s shoulder. “No, but he was earlier.”

So Ryder wasn’t looking at her, but he had been. That sounded about right. He kept changing his damn mind. First he’d pushed her away before he kissed her. Then he’d said he wouldn’t mate her, but damn well claimed her in the Coven meeting. She still wasn’t sure what that had meant or exactly what the others had thought, but it had meant something. She wasn’t Pack, but he’d still said she was his. Or, at least, theirs. It wasn’t as if she wanted to marry him and have his babies, but it would be nice if he would make his choice and stick to it.

She’d told herself years ago she wouldn’t have children and wouldn’t find a man to live her life with. She’d always thought her twin would be able to do that despite the danger, but that wasn’t for her. She hadn’t wanted her bloodline to continue with her, not with all the pain she’d lived with for so long.

But letting her hands run along that wolf’s body as they both panted with need wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

Her cheeks heated, and Charlotte raised a brow at her.

“Interesting place your thoughts went, I would think.” She smiled and her whole face brightened. The woman was absolutely beautiful, though there was a sadness in her eyes that she couldn’t quite hide. Leah knew what Bram saw in the woman, though he, like Ryder, did his best not to stare for too long.

If Leah had planned to stay within the den for any amount of time, she might have asked Charlotte what the story was behind that, but she couldn’t. She didn’t know her future and what path she would take. Therefore, making friends and promises wasn’t for her. It hadn’t been the case for more years than she cared to count.

“Leah? Are you okay?”

About Carrie Ann:

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.

Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon.

Excerpt

She studied his face, and he’d have given the world to have the power to hear her thoughts. His wolf raged inside, screaming at him to take the words back. His wolf didn’t understand. He never did. He didn’t know why the flipside of Ryder’s powers was so horrible. He only saw the woman in front of them, the one woman for them. The wolf only saw rejection from the human it was supposed to trust with everything it had, not the full extent of the agony Ryder felt.

And yet, Ryder felt what the wolf did, so all in all, his world was ending deep inside the cavernous depths of his soul. But he had to remain stoic.

He couldn’t tell her that he was saving her from a life of anguish and a grey existence. He couldn’t tell her because he’d never told a soul why he was the quiet one. He’d never told his family why he was the one to curl into himself when he should have been the one to stand proudly beside his Alpha.

“I can’t think about this, Ryder. It’s too much. I know you had to get it off your chest, but that’s all it can be right now.”

She raised her chin.

“You may not want to tell me why you feel that you can’t have a mate right now. Maybe someday you will. And maybe one day when I’m not grieving and freaking the fuck out over my life, I’ll listen. But for now, I just want to go to bed. Can I do that? Can I just sleep? Maybe I’ll wake up and it’ll all be a dream.”

“We can do that,” he said after a tense moment. “I didn’t mean to make your burden worse than it already is.”

About An Alpha’s Choice:
The Bestselling Redwood Pack continues with the Talon Pack series.
A Broken Wolf. A Fractured Bond. A Fate Denied.
Brynn Brentwood has spent the whole of her life protecting the Talon Pack through terrors only she will ever know. She’s never asked for more in life other than to live to take her next breath and to ensure her family is safe. Regardless of her selfless wishes and the atrocities the former Alpha committed, she has always known that fate would provide for her as it had countless others. Fate is what has carried her through with one exception—upon meeting the one wolf who could be hers, he doesn’t feel their bond.Finn Jamenson has been broken more than once, left beaten and half dead—and that was before he was an adult and Heir of the Redwood Pack. When called upon to work with their allies, the Talons, he finds himself intrigued with a woman who his wolf doesn’t claim as his own. Though he knows there could be something there, he refuses to tempt himself with a wolf who could never be his when his own mate could waiting for him.

The world changed in a blink of time and now the two wolves must fight as one—ignoring the burning temptation between them—when their people are threatened. With one wrong move, their homes could be destroyed and its up to Finn and Brynn to save them all…if only they could save themselves.

“Why?” Brynn pleaded, her heart in her throat. “Why?”
She staggered from the wall, careful not to touch him. Just one taste, one touch, and she was addicted. He reached for her, then must have thought better of it because he dropped his hand. Her wolf begged for him while the woman wanted to rage in agony and sweet release.
He’d kissed her.
He’d freaking kissed her.
He wasn’t supposed to kiss her. He was supposed to keep his distance and make it easier for her to die slowly inside. He didn’t want her; he’d proven that over the past year by looking right through her as nothing but a woman, wolf, a fighter—not a potential mate.
Yet he’d pressed her against the wall and kissed her like he’d meant it, like he wanted something more than a mere kiss. Though that had been no mere kiss. That had been…everything.
She’d always known when Finn wanted something he’d go for it all—as if he couldn’t help putting everything into it, putting his whole body, his wolf, his tongue. She’d heard enough stories from women who’d been in his bed. While she hadn’t clawed their eyes out for daring to touch what should have been hers, she’d listened to their tales of his prowess. Finn wasn’t a gentle lover, but he was a caring one. He fucked like he had a purpose, and made sure every woman in his bed got off until she couldn’t walk away easily. Because it was Finn who always did the walking away—apparently, on the hunt for a mate.
Too bad he’d missed what was right in front of him on that search.

My Review
I'm learning my lesson-- as the first book I've read by Ms Ryan- I'm missing out. I've been hearing great things about her for a while and I'm thrilled to say I got several more of her books now because of this one. With that said- this book is fantastic!! I loved it! The secret of shifters has become public knowledge and it's basically a lynch mob. The supes can't hide anymore and the government is making it even worse. And now, the packs have to learn to not fight back when a human threatens them. And the two packs, the Redwoods and the Talons, have two lovely wolves to be the pr faces. Except that's a problem :)

Brynn is an alpha female whose life has centered around  protecting those around her. She has a really horrible past from what I gathered, Her father cruelly abused her. This hasn't stopped her yet. And yet, fate wants her to live miserably. She's found her mate, but he doesn't feel the same. This isn't supposed to happen. How is she supposed to work with Finn every day wanting him more than life and never having him. I felt really bad for her, though she fights pretty hard. Lol

Finn is heir, his dad alpha, to the Redwood Pack. He had a lot riding on his shoulders as well. But a demon kinda killed him when he was younger. And though he had help to survive, some of the pieces weren't put back together. But he doesn't know that. Until the human side falls for Brynn and he doesn't understand why she is the way she is. She's hated him. But he needs to put up a good face for his pack. Their lives depend on him. Until he finds out why. I felt sorrier for him. He almost broke me, when he finally realized everything.

The writing was absolutely flawless. With a great plot and some romance and lots of frustration and even humor, this book is all around fantastic.! Some great characters, both main and supporting, theirs a fantastic world that was created. And there's still more to come. And I have to catch up lol and this was a very emotional one too. I swear my heart broke. With that being said, I want more!! Excellent 5 PAWS!!
