It’s the perfect chance for Dawn to show off her new skills, but with real danger lurking everywhere, Jase isn’t ready to let her out of his sight.

My Review

After reading book one, I knew I wanted to know more about this series and these characters. When things started, Dawn didn't know anything about the supernatural world. Now, she's a hunter with Jase. And they are heading south. I would say you should probably read book one to get the full feel for everything but it wouldn't be too hard to pick this one up by itself! And when we start this one, we jump right into crazy ghosts and things going nuts.

Dawn is a likable character. After losing her best friend in the first book, she's now on the road to training to be a real hunter. And boy within the first few sentences, crazy things are happening and trying to kill her. She thinks it'll be easy but not so much. And Jase, well he's her trainer, and right now, she doesn't like him as her boyfriend because he isn't going easy on her, because she needs to know the hard stuff to stay alive. LOL And Jase is still pretty awesome, though he's a little rough around the edges. And they meet up with his friend Jo, and things are gunna be a fun ride!!

The writing flows well and I liked the style. I like that not everything paranormal is good, or bad. You know, the werewolves in the first story were bad. ;( And the world building is an easy concept because it's modern. And things are a little more cut and dry. It's like supernatural, with a chick LOL. And being from South Louisiana, I was waiting for a lot of things to be wrong, but it wasn't too bad. :)

I  liked this story. It's an easy read, with fast pacing, and a fun story line that will keep you sucked into the adventure and turning the pages. I've come to really like this series a lot and I look forward to more!! 5 PAWS!

Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book J…. Coven’s Calling is the second part of my Night Hunters Series. It finds the protagonist, Dawn, on the road with Jase, an experienced hunter of the paranormal. She’s started training to become a hunter like him, but of course there are some bumps (and witches!) along the way.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know? I’ve been a big reader since I was very little, but writing only got easier when I graduated university. Honestly, laziness just held me back. Once I realized that I could actually do it if I stopped being lazy, I started really working at it.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it? My first book, admittedly, was inspired a bit by Fifty Shades and a lot by my degree in history. Did it ever see the light of day? Maybe…

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Little bits here and there, but nothing major. Mostly just little details.

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books? For me, worthless deaths are a huge peeve in fiction, so I make sure all of them serve a purpose of some sort. Or it’s the bad guy, of course!

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Gracie Madison! Her book came out right before mine and I really enjoyed it.

Who do you look up to as a writer? Anyone who sits down and writes every day, even when it’s hard.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book? Probably, but I try not to dwell on it.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Making sure my hero is someone who I would find myself falling for. If I can’t love him, I can’t expect readers to.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre? I’m still working through the pile I got for Christmas! Right now I’m reading Stephen King’s latest book.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them? I have a good grasp of Photoshop and my husband did a couple years in graphic design. I do the covers myself!

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it? Never stop writing. Taking an extended break is very hard to come back from.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose? Jo Warren from Coven’s Calling. She’s tough, she’s pretty, and she’s very loyal. She was supposed to be a person that my main character, Dawn, butted heads with, but they just got along too well by the end!

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because? Life of Pi by Yann Martel. I read it for the first time in high school, right after it first came out and was blown away.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thank you for reading my books! Honestly, it means the world to me.

Harvest Moon (Night Hunters, #1)

The exciting new paranormal romance series Night Hunters begins here!
She’s pretending to be someone she’s not.

For two years, Dawn Garrett has been on the run from some very bad people. The small town of Goosemont, nestled deeply in the Appalachian Mountains, seems like the perfect place for a young woman to disappear.

He isn’t who he says he is.

When Jase Byrnes is working a job, he needs to blend in, and he works alone. He knows what dark creatures lurk in the shadows and prowl in the night, and it’s his duty to hunt them.

Not all is right in the picturesque town of Goosemont. Hikers are going missing at an alarming rate and people are turning up dead. It isn’t bears or wolves that are hiding deep in the mountain, but a terrifying evil that Jase has come to hunt. It’s the same evil that has claimed the life of Dawn’s best friend and with Jase’s help, she is ready to fight back. Will Jase be able to finish the job? Or will his attraction to Dawn only put her in more danger?
