Author Interview
First, tell me a little about your book ☺…. Angel Codes is the
last book in the four book series AngelFire Chronicles. There is books 1, book
1.5, book 2 and book 3. This story is set in Manhattan, New York and focuses on a high school girl named Ali
Maney as she battles demons with her angels and human friends, falls in love,
must protect her family and friends and almost loses it all. Themes in this book center on fighting for
love and fighting for goodness, also sacrifice, betrayal and conquering one’s
fears.
Do you recall how your interest in writing
originated or did you always just know? I loved writing since the get-go. Even
before I learned to write I told myself and others stories and would go on and
on, LOL;)
What inspired you to write your first book and
what was it? My first full length novel came too late. I wrote mostly short
stories until after college, figuring I’d never make enough in earnings as a
novelist. I studied English and teaching and didn’t write my first novel until
2009 at 33.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or
events in your own life? My novels are based mostly from my imagination with
some characteristics or events on both my and other’s lives.
How do you chose when/which characters die in
your books? Sometimes I know before writing who will die, other times it comes
as I’m writing. Dumah for instance I thought would die and then not and then
was not sure. You’ll have to read the story to find out, but as the characters
and their relationships develop, so the consequences change as well.
Are there any new authors that have grasped
your interest? LUX series and Matched and Partials are all books I’m gearing up
to read.
Who do you look up to as a writer? Indie
authors who have been successful like Imogen Rose.
If you had to do it all over again, would you
change anything in your book? No;)
Is there anything you find particularly
challenging in your writing? Starting a new series is the hardest, but once the
story gets going and your into the fifth chapter it all starts to flow easier,
the world and characters start to embed your dreams, your daily life and they
start to come out on paper much faster. Sequels are always easier for me.
What book are you reading now? Or what genre?
Paranormal, listed above. But I am finishing up the Withered series.
Who designed the cover? And do you help with
them? I did;) I can design other’s covers as well and have made many book
trailers for authors.
Did you learn anything from writing your books
and what was it? I learned that I love staying with a world and characters for
a period of time and that the writing flows much easier that way too. I did
this with my Shifter Evolutions series too (5 books in that series).
If you could be one of your characters, who
would you chose? April from The Hunted of 2060. Her life seems rather
interesting, changing into a wolf and all that jazz, LOL;)
Are there any books you think some of us should
read, just because? I really want to dive into LUX, so maybe that series, LOL;0
Do you have anything specific that you want to
say to your readers? I hope my readers find the ending to this saga satisfying
and meaningful. This series was such a pleasure to write. I enjoyed almost
every minute of it;)
