My Review Book 1
This was such an great start to a ya fantasy series! Jessa lives with her dad in the middle of nowhere. They got along well, loved nature and the outdoors, and are happy. Until her 18th birthday makes some things happen she wasn't prepared for! She finds something that's causes her to have dreams, like visions, that begin a journey for her that will change everything. She discovers and realm she never knew about, will have the trouble finding her way to fitting in in a place that feels like home. Faery and she founds out she had a significant role to play here. She is to not only rule but save everyone from evil. I was impressed with how Mature and un-stupid she was. Lol I know that's not a word but you know some teenage girls are ridiculous but I loved Jessa!! She meets wonderful and horrible people on the way! Like Micha and Roderick! Loved them!!
I loved the writing style and the story is fantastic! It was paved well, written well, and had great believable characters! Overall I enjoyed it and I can't wait for book two! 5 PAWS!!
Snow Moon
A New World book 2
Snow Moon
A New World book 2
Jessa is back, queen of faeries, and people are going missing. She starts looking into disappearances and she finds a rogue! Sylph thinks he is doing a favor to the realm in his own mind. But because of her investigations, Jessa is sentenced to death. And Micha uses his power to free her from her killers, but there's still a lot happening and those who are causing evil must be stopped to save the innocents.
I love this series! It's a great sequel and the writing is well done. I love the world this author has built and I'm so impressed with how taking something like faeries yet making it unique. It's definitely a fun, fast paced mystery and adventure and the fantastic characters are back!! I can't wait to see what this author will come up with next! 5 PAWS!!
Author Interview
First, tell me a little about your book and why you wanted to write this particular story….
Author Interview
First, tell me a little about your book and why you wanted to write this particular story….
The series is about the forest. I love the woods around my house and I wanted to show others the great places I visit that are close. What helped the story become one was a dream. I know it sounds typical but it's true. I dreamed of a girl being transported into a new world via a lady slipper and so the book was born.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?
I always knew. It was the first thing I did to express myself. I just didn't focus on it until I was older.
What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?
The dream stuck with me. I'd stand at my kitchen sink, staring out the window, and thought of the possibilities of the dream. Writing it down was the only way I could keep from day dreaming about it...Lol.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Like most writers, we do tend to take pieces of ourselves and our experiences and include them in our stories. You usually write what you know.
Out of all the characters in your book, who is your favorite to write? There’s always a fan favorite to read about but sometimes it’s the side characters that are the most fun
I love them all. But, Micha is my favorite. He is broken at first and you hate him, but you feel bad for him too. He just sticks with me.
How did you come up with the lead character(s)?
Jessa and Roderick were the first characters. I knew their roles first thing but Micha came into the picture later. I knew Jessa needed more struggles in her life and he was the solution.
Is your book part of a series, and if so, how many will there be?
Yes. For now 4 but there may be more...
What are you working on now?
Pink Moon. Book 3 in the series.
How do you chose when/which characters die in your books?
. I don't really, I let the story do the talking.
Who do you look up to as a writer?
I love Sherrilyn Kenyon and Kim Harrison, to name a few. I look up to all of the authors that I've read their books. They give me hope that I can someday be like them because they were once where I am.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
No, I don't think I would. I like how it is progressing, where the characters are in their lives. But, I know some fans who would disagree with me.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
. I can come up with ideas pretty fast. My problem is writing them down, perfectly. I'm no good with proper English...I'm from Kentucky, most of us don't know what it is. Lol.
Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?
My publisher, Mary, does the covers. She gets in touch with someone and she decides what to use. Mary actually had three different designs of the last cover and asked me which one I liked the best. I got to pick the cover to Snow Moon. I thought it was nice of her to ask my opinion because she didn't have to.
Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?
I learned to believe in myself. I wasn't confident in myself as an author but after the first book came out, I've started to.
If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?
Jessa of course. Lol. She's the queen and she has the power. Who wouldn't want to be her?
Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?
There are so many but the first series I read and thought about each day afterwards was The Shifter Series by Rachel Vincent. It's probably because her characters run around in the forest all the time...
We all love Supernatural, so which Winchester brother is for you?
Dean of course...
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Don't be afraid to pick up a book and read it even if the cover is unappealing. You never know what's on the inside. It may take you to a whole new world.
This or that...
A. Coffee addict? Yes!
B. What’s your favorite alcoholic beverage
I'm not a big drinker. Lol. But on occasion I will drink a margarita.
