Awakening the Fire & Fire Within by Ally Shields Reviews!

Awakening the Fire (Guardian Witch, #1)
Book Description:
It's her first murder case...
Twenty-three-year-old Ari Calin has sworn to keep the peace in the Olde Town district of Riverdale, and most of the time the Otherworlders cooperate. The vampires, werewolves and other magical creatures go about their business, living side by side with humans, until the foreign wolves arrive and a virtual reality drug hits the streets. Violence erupts, and Ari needs more than her witch fire, weapons, and potions to stop the madness.
Joining forces with a human police officer, Lt. Ryan Foster, and a way-too-sexy vampire singer, Andreas De Luca, Ari hunts for the enemy—from the vampire strip clubs to the caverns under the city. Every step draws Ari and her companions deeper into an old feud and closer to the brink of a supernatural war.

Excerpt :

(Despite the friction and mistrust between them, Ari has come to Andreas's supper club to ask for his help on her murder case.)

The vampire's coal-black eyes found her and silken threads of magic wrapped her in a soft web. The room faded away. She floated as in a dream, warm and safe. A place to linger forever. Her witch magic began to sing in concert with his, and Ari called it back to her. The effort brought her out of his web with a jolt.

Damn, how strong was he? She wrapped her magical aura around her. As long as she kept it in place, his magic was held at bay. Then, mercifully, the song was over. Andreas bowed to a wildly applauding audience and left the stage.

“Good evening.” Startled, she stared at him.

“Uh, hello.” How did he move so fast? He produced a polite smile.

“If you will come this way.” He waved a hand toward a hallway on the left.

Ari hesitated. A meeting in private? She hadn’t anticipated that.

His brows rose. “We have twenty minutes.”

Swallowing her doubts, Ari preceded him down the hall. It was better this way, she told herself. Fewer interruptions. At least she knew her time parameters. He ushered her past four closed doors, not stopping until they reached an exit door at the end. He touched a security panel, the door opened, and they stepped into a paved lane leading to the rear parking lot. Dense trees lined the opposite side of the lane. Total privacy.

The night was pleasantly cool. The crisp cleanness of fall filled the air. Ari hung back and watched her companion as he stopped in the middle of the lane. Andreas arched his shoulders and threw back his head, breathing deeply. For a moment all Ari could think about was how sexy he looked.

“I hope you don’t mind talking out here. It has been a long evening, and I needed the fresh air.”

“Not at all. It’s nice.” She looked up at the stars, pinpoints in an uncluttered sky, to keep from looking at him. “What was that last song you sang?”

“An Italian love song. Did you enjoy it?”

He turned to look at her. “It was, or I was?” His voice invited a broader interpretation.

She smiled. “Both,” she said, not bothering to hedge. “But who’s fishing for compliments now?”

“Touché.” His familiar laugh came then, rich and intimate, strangely companionable.

My Review
So I found a new series to love! This one is pretty cool as it has all kinda of fun supernatural characters with some great mysteries and some HAWT man candy! It all started with a crazy night walking in the park lol ok it's not that simple but it's still true :)

Out leading lady, ari, is a witch. She's also half human. She's a tiny thing and people mistake her for that. She's a guardian. She's like a supernatural cop, who works with the cops. She helps keep the preternatural world from getting to crazy and the humans happy and safe. When some crazy attacks start happening and a human is murdered, ari must find a way to solve it before it gets too bad. She had a posse of friends, from shifters to other witches and even some vampers :) she's a very smart girl, who had some power in the little body and she's hilarious. My heart broke for her a few times. And she's also cautious with her man candy. There's a potential to be some romance but nothing major which was perfect for me, since the mystery and action was great!

Let's talk man candy. Ryan is her human cop partner- he's funny cuz he's the liaison to the supes world and he kinda hated it and doesn't understand it! And Andreas. Dammit if I don't like the damn vamper. He fun council shifter friends, who are all just full of fun. There's a good but in here as well as her having a wonderful human BFF whom I loved!!

The world building is great! I loved that the city is split between humans and supes. There's a cool world here and the humans can eat at vampire bars, party with shifters, and be amazing all at once :) I definitely look forward to book two!! 4.5 MAGICAL PAWS!!

Fire Within (Guardian Witch, #2)

A hidden evil stalks the city…

Ari Calin refuses to believe her human friend Eddie murdered a vampire—in spite of his confession. Her human partner Ryan thinks the case is a slam dunk, even though there’s no weapon and no witnesses, but Ari’s not about to let her friend take the rap without finding out more.

When Ari attends a charity event on the arm of a handsome werewolf, she finds someone she never expected to see again—Andreas De Luca, the charismatic vampire she used to date. When their eyes meet across the room, memories come rushing back. His kiss, his touch, a savage death…and a terrifying magical bond. A reconnection is the last thing she wants. Only by staying away and forgetting Andreas can she hope to avoid the Legend of Ramora.

But when vampires keep dying, one thing becomes clear: Riverdale has a serial killer on its hands, and Andreas could be next. Ari begins to fear there’s more to it, though. Something truly evil is stalking the city, waiting to take control…

My Review
In continuation to book 1, Ari has a crisis. Something is murdering vampires and trying to cause a war! The humans are freaking out, Ari is up a creek without a paddle and things are getting crazier! This is an excellent sequel :) I only have one complaint but I'll get to it later.

Ari is taking her Guardian job serious. She's very committed to her job but when it becomes that she'll be saddled with the sexy vampire Andreas as she's trying very hard to avoid him, things are getting serious. And her magic just won't let Andreas go. But Ari just wants to solve these murders. Romance is not in the cards. Or so she thinks. And Ryan, he's gunna lose his mind when he finds out who the murderer is! Lol he made me laugh so much! I love their conversations! And Andreas, well, he's struggling with Ari's magic, the pull he feels to her and how to fix this cray cray!

And here's my complaint, Ari is still mad at Andreas. I'm not sure why. Dude he's a vampire, an old one, he kills bad things, get over it because she was almost just as bad. Yeah yeah and think she's just blaming him for her own reactions. Lol but anyways! I loved the action and the fun mystical lab work for magic with the lab worker who was awesome :)

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where book three is gunna go with everything that happened! With that, I can't wait :) 5 PAWS!!
