Excerpt:
“So, Marius, I’m pleased, as I’m sure you must be, that the download between you and I went so well.”
The remark was sudden and bewildering.
“Yes, I am also pleased…”  Marius paused.  “What brings that up, M2?  Is there something you feel we need to improve upon?”
“No, actually, I don’t think that at all.  In fact, I think the process and aftermath have proven to be extremely fruitful, don’t you?”
“Well, yes…  But then, what is it?”
“I just recalled an idea we had, that’s all,” M2 said.
          “’We’ had an idea?”
“Well, as you know, to say that we think alike would be an understatement.”  M2 paused and allowed Marius to have a laugh.  “So obviously your knowledge of robotics resides not only within you, but within me as well.  I know you’ve thought about it, the possibility to help the company pounce into the next generation.  What if, say, we were to make a team of Companions, not unlike myself, created from experts in different fields?  For example…  We could use that famous technology instructor, the woman from Advance Propulsion Labs who’s won awards for all of those groundbreaking projects they’ve done recently, or even that metal-loving genius who combines materials recovered from asteroids with titanium and such.  It would be a team of biorobotic and propulsion brilliance with unlimited potential!”

 Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book :)….
Computer Love Inc. II: Gestation tells the story of a biorobotics boom, a technologically advanced company, and characters that experience turmoil as the repercussions of their creations challenge humanity’s boundaries.

We are a father/daughter team of co-authors that are in the middle of a sci-fi trilogy series titled Computer Love Inc. We recently self-published the second novel in the series, Computer Love Inc. II: Gestation, and are currently working on the third novel.
While writing the story, Kurt enjoyed the writing more than he anticipated. Jess was just finishing up college and shortly thereafter graduated with a BA in English. We decided to put our heads together and take a whack at polishing up Kurt’s original manuscript.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?
Kurt has been writing songs since he was 16. He started writing the first novel back in 2005 with the intent to create an outline for a rock opera. He enjoyed the writing so much that the idea of creating a novel became intriguing to him. The thought of Jess being an English major didn’t hurt, either. Among Kurt’s favorite authors are Hemmingway and Jimmy Buffett.
Jess has been an avid reader since she first learned to read. She immediately fell in love with writing and continued studying English right up to the point when she graduated from college with a BA in the subject.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?
The idea for the series came from a song Kurt wrote many years ago. He had a dream to turn the song into a full-length rock opera as he had ideas for elaborating on the concept. Interestingly, Kurt published the song on youtube which can be viewed by going to our website at www.computerloveinc.com

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Kurt has worked in the aerospace industry for many years and is surrounded by technology. Combined with a good imagination, and a love for writing and storytelling, (being a fisherman as well, storytelling comes with the territory) it was mostly imagination that took over.
Naturally, some of the characters are based on experiences we have had and personalities or traits of others. But we are not saying who! Lol

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books?
That is a really good question. “Happy endings” don’t typically work out, you have to feel something in order for the narrative to be successful. Also, William Faulkner said that “in writing, you must kill all your darlings.” Sometimes, this needs to be taken literally.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
We don’t think so. We edited it to death.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
That one word. You know, the one you are searching for. I know it’s out there somewhere. Ah yes. No that’s not it. How about….that, no, not that one either. Another sip of coffee: finally it dawns on you, relief! Or, one of your editors might find it for you.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?
Steven James Catizone designed and provided our cover. It was the most wonderful experience working with him. We provided one email to him with a detailed description of what we were looking for. He liked the idea of the story and cover and we received the completed cover in about a week. We did not alter a thing, he provided exactly what we were looking for on the first attempt. It was a truly amazing experience.

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?
We learned that patience and perseverance go a long way!

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?
Kurt: As the father figure, I get called Marius around the house all the time.
Jess, on the other hand, would prefer to be Anna.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you!
