Beware Of Warlocks Box Set
My Review
Never Marry A Warlock
Well how rude! Catherine literally walks in on her husband cheating with her best friend in the first sentence. So, both she and me are pissed. LOL Her husband Richard and her supposed BFF Cassie are in for it, as Catherine is a witch, but so is her husband. And she gets a little revenge, quickly, before she takes off. A little road trip was needed to clear her head... Until she picks up a hitchhiker, a sexy, Australian hitchhiker named Jeff. LOL He's human, so Catherine thinks it'll be cool to not deal with warlocks for a little while, but her husband has other plans.
Catherine is strong, and funny, and pretty hard core, but we all have issues, and she needs to work through those. It's complicated when things are turning deadly. I was sad for her but I also cheered for her. Jeff was so carefree, and he made Catherine breathe a little easier. Yeah, Richard and Cassie don't deserve nice words lol
This was such a quick fun read. It was hilarious, and sometimes heartbreaking. And yet it's also pretty steamy. There's some great plot twists that had me shocked. I loved it and I'm jumping right into book two! 5 PAWS!!
Never Fall for a Warlock
So maybe Vegas really is all it's cracked up to be. Catherine wanted Jeff, but he's maybe not so human, so she runs again, this time to Vegas, where she meets Liam. Liam is an exotic dancer. HEH! Oh and he's Irish. Yum. So now she needs to get over her fickle discomforts and figure out what she wants. And Vegas is full of magic and adventure and temptations. I really like Catherine, and I'm still cheering for her, but sometimes I feel likes she makes her own problems.
I really liked this one. Though it's showing a different side of her, it's also showing that sometimes life throws us little loops in our path. I look forward to seeing what's going to happen next with Catherine! 5 PAWS!
Never Cross a Warlock
Well, this is it. Catherine is finding out exactly what Richard wants, and how far he's willing to go to get it. And not just that, Catherine has some other choices to make. And is death the only thing to fear. Dude, this one was explosive. With a lot of twists, jaw droppers, of course humor, and some seriously sexy guys floating around! I am pretty happy with how everything ended and I loved how it all wrapped up! I still want more :) 5 PAWS!!!

Today, I’d like to give you a sneak peek into the Time Travel Romance novel I’ve been working on for the last few years. Now that I’ve got a chance to write, I’m hoping to finish it during NaNoWriMo in November. That stands for National Novel Writing Month. I’ll be spending a lot of the time getting my word count up and speeding to that magic 50K word count to win. I’m also doing the Night of Writing Dangerously in San Francisco and would appreciate any sponsorship. My goal is to reach $300 by November 15. All donations go to the NaNo organization. You can even earn swag from the Beware of Warlocks books by donating.
So, here is a sample from the Time Travel Romance, Everything For Love, my main NaNo project for 2015. I hope you enjoy it. –Marilyn
An excerpt from Everything For Love: A Time Travel Romance by Marilyn Vix:
She glided on Gaston’s arm through the streets of Montmartre to the Moulin de la Galette. She was drinking in the sights of the quarter, the laughter from the cafes, the prostitutes in the alleys, and most of all, the man on her arm she would miss. They met eyes as they came to the garden entry. With a quick kiss, she turned to the maître d' to get a table.
They were brought to a part of the garden patio that had many faces she recognized. A writer named Bertram gave her a nod, but seemed a bit distant. It might have been the fact she was on Gaston’s arm that he was wary. The territorial behavior of men often baffled her. After centuries, she still didn’t see it solved. Men were still mysterious in their ways, and after all of her research, it was still a mystery.
Bertram edged forward as they sat down at their table. He nodded to both. “Gaston and Deidre. It is good to see you both. I have heard the news. We are losing our flower of Montmartre. What garden are you planning to grow in next?”
“London,” she answered. “With all the rain, I’m hoping to blossom into quite a bloom.”
“Oh, I know our flower will never wilt, in spite of the lack of English sun. Why leave here, the glory that is the radiance of the new age? But then, be sure to watch how many bees might be pollinating. ” Bertram’s teasing was a bit harsh. She realized it might have been the fact he had lost out in the battle for her attention. She didn’t need to study a writer for this assignment, and hadn’t pursued his advances for her interest. Bitterness did not make his boyish features attractive.
“Come now Bertram. Our Deidre would never fail to find a way to bloom. And we must give her a party that will make sure she plants her seeds in London.”
“I’m sure you don’t have a problem to see if she is fertile for replanting Gaston.”
Gaston stood up with Bertram’s remark. Some of the other patrons stopped at the raising of voices. Carefully, the surrounding crowd moved back to give room for the show certain to follow.
Deidre stood raising a hand for both to stop their posturing. “Really, Bertram, please, join us. Things can often be solved by a glass of wine. Let us have peace restored. I would insist, since this is my last night.”
Gaston tucked at his coat and adjusted his sleeves. “Deidre, you restore my faith in women. You are too gracious a woman to be allowing an ingrate such as him to shatter your graciousness.”
“I am hoping that he is a good sport and enjoys the free wine.” Deidre smiled, flashing a dimple, as she gestured to another seat at their table.
Bertram grabbed the sides of his coat and answered, “Free wine would let anyone forget their differences.” He sat down with them as the waiter brought them a bottle.
“In fact,” continued Deidre, “I think more things could be solved by simply discussing it over wine.”
“Wars could be averted with full barrels as well,” Gaston joined into help to change the subject.
Bertram laughed, “Yes Gaston. If all the soldiers sat at a table and each had a glass, they would soon forget what they were fighting over.”
Gaston poured a glass for each of them. “To Deidre’s last night, may London’s fog not make her forget the brightness of the lights of Paris.”
The clink of glasses was followed by Deidre’s answer, “And let the light of Paris guide me through my times in London.” As they drank, she noticed Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in the corner sketching away. He kept looking at their table. The cloud of smoke wafting from the cigars and pipes created a haze in the garden. He nodded her way and she raised her glass to him. She tried to gesture for him to join. He shook his head no, motioning to his sketchpad.
As the night wore on, he continued with the occasional look in her direction. He seemed in thrall of trying to capture the moment of a French Galette. He was famous for these sketches. She felt it a shame that he would not enjoy the full reign of his popularity. So few artists were ever appreciated while they were alive.
She raised her glass to him again and smiled. In the end, it looked like Henri had gotten a chance to sketch her after all. However, he was too far away for her to see all of his work. She knew if she left the scene, she’d ruin the moment for him. So, she returned to the conversation fulfilled that her research was a success. But really, it was worth the effort to see Henri smile.
