Happy Book Birthday~ The Worse for Were by Abigail Owen!

The Canis and Banes packs of werewolves have been feuding for centuries. The Hatfields and McCoys were a tea party in comparison. Until Marrok Banes, the Alpha of his pack, decides to end the fighting with a marriage of convenience. Never mind that he can’t keep his hands off his gorgeous new mate.

Tala Canis is the new Alpha of the Canis clan, the first female to claim that right, a position hard fought and won. For the sake of her people she agrees to wed Marrok. Never mind that the Alpha, once her enemy, makes her body flash heat with a single look.

But after the mating ceremony, Marrok only seems interested in one thing…taking over their combined pack while leaving Tala out of the loop. Now it’s time to show her Alpha mate how to share. That or take the reins of power herself.

Tala stood in the small room off the main foyer of the chapel where she was shortly to wed the leader of the Banes pack of werewolves—a man recently considered her enemy. Outwardly she projected her usual calm, collected self. Inside, nerves and doubts pummeled her. The Banes and Canis packs had been locked in a bloody feud for ages. This mating would unite them and, by some miracle, end the fighting. At least, that was the plan. Not everyone agreed.

“Shyla,” she hissed at her sister. “Get away from the door.”

In response, Shyla wiggled her provocative backside, covered in a pale turquoise bridesmaid gown which matched the beading on Tala’s wedding dress, and continued to report on the scene in the sanctuary. “Marrok looks amazing in a tux. You lucky girl. Come see.”

“No, thank you.” Tala folded her hands primly in her lap.

Shyla glanced over her shoulder. “Tala Canis, aren’t you even the least bit interested in your future husband?”

Tala lifted a shoulder in a shrug. “I’ve seen him.”

Shyla shook her head, returning to her perusal of the guests. “I’d be all over that man if I were you,” she muttered. “I’m surprised your wolf isn’t dry humping him every second of the day.”

“Shyla! Someone might hear you,” she rebuked her sister.

Mate, the beast caged inside her rumbled.

No. Means to an end. She and her wolf had been having this debate ever since they’d got their first whiff of the alpha of the Banes pack. Sandalwood and rum. If she were less self-controlled, Tala could get drunk on his scent alone.

Truth be told, she wasn’t nearly as uninterested in her husband of convenience as she made out, but she refused to give her perplexing desire any serious weight given their situation.

My Review

I ADORE this series! So I fell in love with the first book but maybe this one might be even better. Probably because I'm biased to werewolves, so let's just say they both rock! Anyways, Tala is an alpha female wolf and she has arranged a marriage to Marrock another alpha wolf who is from her packs enemy. There's been a war between the two packs for years.  In the last book you see a glimpse of the wedding and the couple but this time we get their story. I LOVED this concept. The first few chapters of this book coincide with the last few chapters of the first book, but in different perspectives. I won't lie, I'm seriously impressed with how well this author made everything flow so seamlessly.

Tala is strong and won't back down from anything. She's had to be this way. But Marrok is not who she thought. He's kind and a great alpha. But she can't fall in love- it's supposed to be an arranged marriage of peace. And Marrok is totally all about Tala but being a typical guy, he forgets the little things. And the twists, there's some pack members really not happy about their marriage and the merging of two warring packs.

I loved every single thing about this one. I'm stoked to get my hands on it and I'm super happy to say it was well worth the wait! I can't wait for book three! There's so many things to love about the world this author created and I'm so grateful she let me read it early!! I think you should totally chance this one- or the first one- because both are spectacular!! I cheered a good bit for this one! :) 5 EXTRA AWESOME WOLFY PAWS!!
