About Molle McGregor

HeadshotRevised2-150x150
Molle’s writing career started when she was seven and suffered terrible insomnia. Night after night she couldn’t sleep until long after mid-night, only to wake a few hours later. Frustrated with her inability to just go to bed, (and her penchant for sneaking a book and a flashlight under the covers) her grandmother said, “You like to read so much, why don’t you tell yourself a story until you fall asleep.” With this brilliant advice, Molle’s overactive brain was off and running. Now, years later, she’s finally taught herself to sleep, but she’s never stopped telling stories. When she’s not reading, writing, or staring into space making things up, Molle is getting into trouble with her husband, two sons, two dogs and vicious attack cat in the mountains of North Carolina. She likes to hike, cook, listen to music way too loud, and hang out with her boys. She does not like dusting or emptying the dishwasher.

My Review

Sooo, I did it again. I read the last book of a series without reading any of the other books. Oh well, it was fantastic!!! I LOVED it, and I rooted and cheered like a crazy person the whole time. I also wasn't too worried because I felt like I had everything I needed, so I will now go backwards and read the first books LOL but you could read this one as a stand alone.

So, 25 years ago, there was "the Flash", which cause the entire world to basically crash. Goodness it's a scary thought. And the big bad guy, who is a human, who just wants to use the supernaturals and then exterminated them. But this main story is about Lumina, aka Hope, who has lived her lives with humans, but she's not one. She has had a pretty rough life. But she's become a wonderful woman. All because Sebastien Thorn is an evil bastard :) Anyways. when she gets caught, she somehow gets away, but not without loss and not without having a mind blowing revelation that the world world isn't like it is in her home land. She's learning exactly who she is, and while she used to hide, she won't any longer. And then she finds out she has family and they are alive. She will stop at nothing to help them. AND then there's Magnus. :)

Magnus is the Seeker, and he's kinda mean, definitely broody, and sexy as hell, even with the scars. Lumina has had dreams of him her whole life, so when he finds her, she's dumb founded. Because he's real. He takes her to a place where everyone is like her. Except she wants his love. and he's not ready to give it. But, Magnus will help Lumina get the rest of her family back together, even if it kills him.

Wow, the plot is just fantastic. I am completely amazed. It's so descriptive and imaginative and creative. And down right skin crawling at times. I cried. I laughed. I cheered. The writing is flawless. And it's heartbreaking but so inspiring. I am going to skip some of my normal parts of a my review, because I am not too sure what would spoil it for someone who has read the first books. But Hope, and Morgan, and MacGregor are some of my favorite characters. Lumina is my hero. Magnus is my new book boyfriend :) It's an amazing adventure that is so worth the read. I do wish I would have read the first books, but now, I'll catch up and re-read and it'll be even more amazing!!! 5 MAGNIFICENT PAWS!!!

My Review

This is a sweet and fun paranormal YA read. I loved the thought of how the reapers worked in this one, and I know that it's going to be an adventure for this one. I won't like, this one is heart breaking, and sometimes I just wanted to hug myself and cry. Poor Leila. She started out as a princess who just wanted some normalcy and romance, when a slightly tyrant father, but a wonderful series. And then something horrible happens, and she's given a choice, become a reaper, or be gone for good. She chooses reaper.

Laney, she struggles with being a reaper. She thinks that she can be alive, but not take souls. She's thinking she can get away with it, but everything has consequences, and when she refused to take a soul, she causes something that's pretty horrible. But then she learns from her mistake and and tries to make up for them. She also struggles really hard with letting go of her past, her sister, and wanting to catch her murdered. And when she does get to see her sister it's not such a good thing.

The plot is more sweet than anything, but it's an adventure and it's a great story about chosing how you want to live your life. It's really a fun story and I really enjoyed it. I hope there's more to come and I look forward to seeing how things may turn out with Wynter, and her new reaper friends. And of course her sister Mara. I was not disappointed and I can't wait for more. 4.5 PAWS!!

The Reaper and the Cop

(Liberty, Oakwood  #1)

37 pages
Published February 28th 2014 by Blue Hedgehog Press

Death’s big business. For Laney Larson, it’s a full time job.
The latest in a long line of Reapers, Laney hits Liberty, Oakwood expecting the usual ‘reap and run’ type of job. However the small town holds far more secrets than she expects, including a sexy cop who blind-sides her reaper instincts big-time.

Liberty. It used to be a nice town until the things that go bump in the night moved in.

Detective Troy Regan moved to Liberty to claw back a little of his soul after working homicide in the big city. But the sleepy little down has problems of the paranormal kind and it’s police department have gone from calls about lost cats to Boggarts in the basement. Then the seriously nasty stuff moved in.

Sparks fly when a sexy Reaper meets a hot as hell Cop...

Troy’s not sure exactly what flavour of paranormal Laney is, but he doesn’t care. She’s tiny, delicate and gorgeous. When he finds a Lycan looming over her in an alley, all his protective instincts flare up. He needs to get her home, keep her safe…in his bed.

But is she the answer he’s been looking for to fill the empty spot in his heart, or the most dangerous creature he’s ever met?

My Review

This is a short and sweet book full of humor, sass, action, romance, and some crazy supernaturals. :) This is the first book of this series and I loved it. I seriously laughed out loud multiple times, and then got nervous and needed to know what would happen. It'll definitely leave you wanting more.

Laney is a reaper. She inherited this lovely life from her family. She tells you all about being a reaper, and how it works. She's hilarious. Like I seriously love her. She's kick ass, smart, and tiny though scary. She is a whole package and she is definitely one to maybe be afraid of. And it all starts when she goes into a bar, and this totally sexy cop talking to a werewolf can actually see her. No one should have seen her. And then it just goes crazy. That same cop saves her from that same werewolf, and boy do the sparks fly between them.

Troy is a homicide detective. And yes, he knows about the paranormal. His town is going through something crazy because the supes are popping up left and right. He's pretty awesome, except when he gets a little cave man-ish toward Laney.

The plot is excellent and the start of this series had me salivating for more. And yes the ending is a little mind blowing, but no worries, just jump right into book two like I did :) The writing is great and I can't wait for more of this series!! 5 PAWS!!

Dead Reaper Walking (Liberty, Oakwood, #2)

Dead Reaper Walking (Liberty, Oakwood #2)

Underage witches, a breakout from demon prison and a new hellgate... What could go wrong?

Reaper extraordinaire, Laney Larson, is stuck in Liberty, Oakwood of all places, for two reasons. One, there's way more paranormal activity going on than normal for a little town like Liberty. And two, a sexy as hell cop called Troy.

So when the proverbial hits the fan and they get wind of a demon break-out from the third hell, a prison even the demon king himself won't set foot in, what's a reaper to do but strap on her blades and help track the escapee down? But then the creature takes her man, and all bets are off.

A reaper, a demon and a cop...will Death claim them all, or just one?

My Review

I jumped right into this one from book one. Boy oh boy, was this a scorching read. Not just the sexy romance part, but the fire breathing demons and the smoking action! This is a great continuation for this series and I really cannot wait for more!!

So Laney is falling for a human cop. And now, he's put himself in harms way for her. She doesn't want to have feelings. It was only supposed to be a one night stand, except that's not happening at all. Laney never wanted to have the position where she would have to reap someone she loves. Yes, she's hard core and kick ass, but she has feeling and she's also gunna tell you about it. Also, she's over the top hilarious!! And Troy, well, her relationship with him may be complicated but she's holding on with every thing she has to him.

Troy, well, he made me a little bit mad, but only for a minute. And then, I loved him again. He's willing to give his life to protect Laney and those who are innocent in his town. He's smart, and sweet, and sexy as hell. And I love the banter between Laney and Troy. Like I dunno if I need a cold shower, or something to calm my laughter with them.

This one is action packed, the plot thickens, the twists are fantastic and of course the writing is great!! I can't wait for more. And now, I can't wait to see how this is gunna turn out with the events that have occurred. Seriously, 5 PAWS!!!

About the Author
Mina Carter

website

twitter username

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.

Chasing the Sun Review and Giveaway!

Hello everyone! I have a fun new book to show you today :)

Chasing the Sun
An Earth Relic Novel
Book 1
Sasha Abernathy

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Publisher: Crimson Frost Books
Date of Publication: October 21, 2014

ISBN: TBD
ASIN: TBD

Cover Artist: Suzannah Safi

Book Description:

Hunted by Chaos. Protected by Death. Guided by Fire.

Terran is now the key to a world she never knew existed.

Normal was what Terran did best – house, job, dog, friends – rinse and repeat. She never knew demigods existed, or that you could journey to other realms, manipulate nature with your mind, or that the dead weren’t really gone at all, but instead existed in the Underworld. No, she lived the mundane life of any twenty-seven-year-old Alaskan girl…until she met Aiden, the complicated and gorgeous new local art gallery owner.

As their fiery relationship evolves into something more, Terran finds herself surrounded by a world of nightmares and gods, when the mysterious Aiden proves to be more than a simple man. Soon, Terran finds that she is not so simple herself. As an ancient evil threatens to escape and unleash all Hell, Terran must dive into a magical world she never knew existed to save them all…even if that means giving up her life to do it.

Excerpts

#1:

"Aren't these Aiden’s pieces?" Micah had caught up to me and seemed as perplexed as I did.
"Yeah, I guess so.”
“Who would have thought he'd donate his work?" Micah commented and then lost interest, walking away as she saw someone she recognized.
I stayed, staring in shock.
"Don't look so surprised. Your friend Jon's charity is truly for a good cause."
I shouldn't have lingered. By now I should have known to avoid anything having to do with Aiden. Many of the contributing artists were here to help promote their pieces so I should have known. But somehow he always caught me off guard.
"Actually, I'm surprised you have a heart at all." My disdain oozed off my words as I gave him the biggest scowl I could muster.
However ugly I thought his attitude, I couldn't say the same about his appearance. Aiden cleaned up nicely in his all-black tuxedo. His hair had been gelled down, but you could still see the natural wave of it. His tux looked as if it had been custom-made, which made me curious. How many black-tie events did he go to in order to have purchased a custom tux?
But, who cared? With my shoulders back, chest raised, and chin up I turned my head, grabbed my dress on the sides and walked away. Screw him.
I got about three steps away before I heard him.
"You look beautiful," he said to my back. It stopped me, my heart thumping loud in my chest. An immeasurable amount of time had passed since someone besides my friends had told me I was beautiful. I could feel him staring at me, but I didn't move. I only stood there, frozen.
"Terran," His voice was soft with yearning. It was then that I gained enough courage to walk away. I had already made up my mind about him. He was too complicated and I was tired of the ups and downs of his mood. This man would break my spirit, at least what little of it I fought to keep.

My Review

This is quite an interesting story based on Greek mythology and a little twist on supernatural lore. This actually a sad then inspirational story. How love of all different kinds can change your life. We all need love but this one shows that there's different types of love and they all mean something special. Terran is the main character. She's so sad because she lost her husband and two sons in an accident 2 years before. She's alive but she's definitely not living. Her two best friends Jon and Micah are awesome and they want to see her live. So they kinda try to set up her with a new art gallery owner. Except neither are interested in each other. Aiden, the owner, is actually an ass, but then swears he's trying to protect her. His "special" uncle is gifted, obsessed with hamburgers, and is also amazingly talented. They give her gifts but they come with warnings and riddles. Then there's Seth. The amazingly gorgeous rich guy who seems interested in Terran. Without getting too detailed, Terran has to figure out which is the good guy and which is the bad. It's a slow start trying to figured out her dreams, the weirdness with plants, and the two men who are significant, just not how she realizes. I actually liked the plot once I started figuring out what was going on. My only complaint is that I'm still missing some major info on those Gods and how they work and their world. And how her dad and late husband and her mom all exactly fit into it all. It's just the beginning and I'm too intrigued to not read book two!! I hope there's gunna be a book two, because I'll be disappointed if not. The first book kept me on my toes and I'd like to see more of Terran grow, since she's changed so much in the book, for the better. 4 PAWS!!
Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book J….
Chasing the Sun is the first book in the Earth Relic Series. Based in Anchorage, Alaska, Terran, a young windowed horticulturist, finds her life turned inside out when she meets the new local art gallery owner, Aiden. It’s a story of hope and mythology, dreams and nightmares.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?
I’ve always loved story telling. I used to write short stories here and there as a kid, but as I got older, I put it aside to focus on my education and career. Until recently, I had only thought about writing a book, but never wrote anything down. I needed a push to put my ideas down. Luckily, my husband gifted me a journal and pen and said ‘write.’

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?
I was inspired by my love for Egyptian mythology. First, I love to read everything paranormal: vampires, werewolves, ghosts, goblins, fae, zombies, everything. There’s something about believing in a world of magic that is so stress relieving. But, I had read so much that I was sick of your typical supernatural creatures. I went on a mad search for something new, something different. But, I didn’t want Greek mythology either since you see that a lot as well. So I thought about my longtime love: Egypt, and the love story of Osiris and Isis. Again, I went in search for an urban fantasy or paranormal romance with a fun Egyptian twist. I wanted something set in modern times that brought back these gods from the ancient world. I couldn’t find it. So, I wrote what I wanted to read. And I’m in love with it.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I think that all authors take inspiration from what’s around them. The fun part is taking this seed of an idea, place, or person, and growing into a complex and beautiful song. Some parts are based on reality more than others. I lived in Anchorage, Alaska where the book is set, so I used a lot of my time there to inspire me. Alaska is one place everyone should visit. It is amazing. Many of the characters are rooted in the people that I know or grew up with, so it was so easy to expand on them. I also took some of my worst fears, (like going crazy or being buried alive) and some of my greatest dreams, (like attending a masquerade gala) and used them to inspire me.

How do you choose when/which characters die in your books?
It’s all about what flows. I love a good shocker and twist, (No one has mastered it like Mr. George R.R. Martin!), but in the end I want it to feel as real as possible. When you’re working in a world of fantasy, the only truly real thing you have is your characters feelings. You have to play on the connection between the reader and the characters, but still always maintain that blip hope.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Oh, man. So, I have this amazing CP (Critique Partner) group. I’m talking amazing! Some of their stories have me so hooked and invested that I’m literally yelling at the characters. They are great. Most of them are just starting the querying process, so I’m anxiously awaiting their novel releases. You can follow them on twitter though: @Patchi_writes, @AinsleyWynter, @ColleenSMyers, and @ChellesWrite.

Who do you look up to as a writer?
I love so many writers for very different reasons. I love George RR Martin for his courage to shake things up. I love Karen Moning for taking an ordinary girl and putting her in an extraordinary world, and building on relationships with creatures from fables. And I love Douglas Adams for his ability to make up gibberish that leaves you laughing until your side hurts.  J

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
No. Of course, I am a perfectionist, so that’s probably only halfway true. The whole truth: at some point, you have to stop picking at something and simply let it be. That’s where I’m at right now.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
There are a couple of scenes in the book that are very emotionally awkward. As I was writing those scenes, I found myself feeling that same emotional discomfort. It was really difficult to write past those parts because I didn’t want to face what they were facing either.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre?
I’m currently reading The Perfect Husband by Lisa Gardner. It’s a suspense that a friend of mine told me was a must read. So far, I’m really enjoying it.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?
The lovely Suzannah Safi. In the initial process I submitted a form describing what I wanted and how I wanted it to feel. She went beyond what I expected. I love it!

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?
I learned that I have a comma-phobia.  I’m still working on that. Although now, I think I sometimes swing the other way.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?
You’ve got to read The Fever Series by Karen Moning. It’s one of my favorite series, for sure.
