Ignited by Desni Dantone Review!

Ignited (Ignited #1)
by Desni Dantone
Release Date: August 28th 2013

Summary from Goodreads:

Seventeen year old Kris Young is on the run from a throng of superhuman golden-eyed freaks hell-bent on seeing her dead, and she doesn't know why. Good thing she has her guardian angel to protect her...sort of.

Kris is aided by Nathan, the mysterious man that ends up being anything but angelic when he rescues her for the fourth time in fourteen years. Even if the handsome hero illusion is shattered by his harsh treatment of her, he knows how to fight this strange enemy and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

As the body count rises in their wake, Nathan introduces Kris to a world in which not everyone is human and the battle lines between good and evil are clearly drawn. Kris's piece in the puzzle is something neither is aware of and, as they uncover the truth, neither is prepared for what they find. Overcoming twists and revelations that shatter both of their lives, they discover that nothing is as it seems and nothing, least of all their hearts, are safe.

From debut author, Desni Dantone, Ignited is the first novel in a tale of first love, mystery and adventure that will introduce you to an exciting new world as Kris discovers how she fits in it.

My review

Here's how you know you love a book... Immediately upon finishing the last word, I went to Amazon and bought the rest of the series currently out and started reading pronto. Yes you heard me right. I purchased books two and three and then read them immediately after this one. I am totally hooked and I cannot wait to get my hands on book four! I'm dying to know. And this has become another must have for me. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I picked this up as a review opp. I mean it sounds pretty interesting in summary, but this first book caught me on the string, book two reeled me in, and book three hooked me and I'm a fish out of water waiting for book four. Yeah I'm down to fishing analogies now hahaha and I absolutely loved this twist on the Greek gods and their descendants and how things are working. And let me just get it straight... It's Zeus and Poseidon vs Hades, that's all I can say in that note.

Now to Kris, she was an orphan who was taken somehow by her "guardian angel" to live with an older lady- Gran. Gran is awesome ps. But Kris thinks she's crazy because her dream "guardian angel" is appearing in real life now. And she doesn't understand. And she finally has an awesome and hot boyfriend and thinks are going good, until she sees people with scary yellow eyes who want to get her, and she has no clue why. But Kris is thrown into a battle for her life. She proved to be strong and brave and independent and dominant and blunt and even funny. She was terrified for a good bit of the beginning. Yet she pulled herself up. She was stuck with her "savior" who hates her and she thinks her boyfriend might be dead and she doesn't understand what's going on. Until she gets a bomb dropped on her. When she starts finding out what things really are like, she will fight for all she is worth.

Let me talk about the guys for a second. There's Nathan, her guardian who is a jerk, but a big hearted jerk. Lol. He continuously rescues Kris and saves her and puts his life in jeopardy for her, but bitches about it. Hahaha it was funny to see this love hate relationship with them, because it does turn to love- with complication of course. And then there's Alec. The new kid who takes a liking to Kris and helped her become a little bit more of herself when she needed it. They are both gorgeous and lovable for dofferent reasons. I won't lie, I love Nathan I do, but I really wanted her to be with Alec. I want the bad boy to find true love and happiness. I wanted so many things. And I wanted her to be with Nathan. Yeah I know I can't make up my damn mind. I love them both, and here's why- they both want to protect Kris, and I think both love her.

The plot is fantastic and I am thrilled to see where the author is going to go with this series. I want so much for all three characters as well as her best friend and another character I can't name at the moment. There's a lot going on with the Gods and what's really happening. And it's good vs evil, sometimes. Not everything is black and white. I loved the writing. I love the action. I loved the ridiculously crazy fights between Nathan and Kris and the sweet moments with Alec.  I am a complete and total fan now and I love this new series!!! 5 paws!!!

About the Author
I live in the quiet, middle-of-nowhere Everett, Pennsylvania with my husband and three sons.

I've been writing since I was eleven, after I swiped one of my mom's Dean Koontz books. I still remember the first one I read; it was called Darkfall, and kept me awake most of the night. Anyway, I was totally inspired when I learned that he came from the small rural town I called home (true story, I swear!), and started writing freaky little horror stories because I wanted to be just like him. I gave the stories to my mom to read. I don't think she was as impressed as I was, but she put on an encouraging face...and that was how my writing obsession started.

After years of writing for a hobby and taking creative writing courses, I've published my first novel, Ignited. My dream is for Dean Koontz to no longer be the only bestselling author from my little middle-of-nowhere hometown.

Sacrificed (Ignited, #2)
My review

So here we go. We've added Micah to the mix, we finally meet him. And we finally start learning what the two big sides are playing with. Creating armies and turning sides and let's all kill Kris. HA! Well its true, they all seem to want to kill her. And this time, it's a big deal. Alec, Nathan, and Kris are on the run, learning what they can from Micah and his guards while preparing to face off against everyone who wants her dead. They need to not only survive but figure out a way to overcome all the evil going around.

Ok first, I almost ALMOST got to do a serious cheer and dance for Alec. I was sure... But no, I do believe it's official that Kris is all Team Nathan. I'm ok with that but I can't help it, I've fallen in love with Alec. If he can't have Kris, please PLEASE let him have a happy ending somewhere!! And I'm not a fan of Micah. I want to punch him in his face almost at all times. I know Kris needs him but no... Just no! And things are getting worse. There's a big player that comes in here, mainly from Nathan's past and wow is it a shocker.

I aboalutely love the story that this author is creating. I love the world building and the lore that follows the background of the Gods and how everything is finally falling into place for me to understand. And boy are things getting crazy. And finally, we find out who are really Kris's parents... It's a whammy! And we finally have that one lovable character I wanted back *wink wink* I'm seriously hooked and I can't wait for more!!!! 5 PAWS!

Salvaged Soul (Ignited, #3)
My review

Dear God... Sweet baby Jesus! The author is getting serious and killing off characters. I mean I knew it would happen but not that and not like that. And wow... There's a lot of shockers here. Nathan made me both love and hate him here. I was almost back to full on cheering for Alec. I know he was trying to spare feelings and not hurt anyone but sometimes, the road of good intentions are paved to hell. Seriously!! If you love Kris then be honest with everyone about everything. And no worries he redeems himself so it's ok. And Alec, oh I was scared for him for a minute. And I am outright scared for Kris's best friend. And I LOVE LOVE Jared!!! Yeah I'm hoping there's a spark for those two of it works out how I want it to. And... Micah... I just can't.... Nope... Just... Ok I can't say anything. But now we're in the know and the Gods are manipulating everything and it's about to get really ugly after that ending. I love Kris  more and more as this series goes on. And I am so anxious to see what will happen in book four. I need it, like last week!! And the writing only gets better and better. This has turned out to be a PHENOMENAL series!! Serious, I read all three books in one day because I just couldn't put them down!! Yeah I know I've become obsessed! But now, I'm all in and I will just have to bite my nails until book four gets here :) 5 PAWS!!!! Seriously, after that explosive ending what else would you expect :)
