Magic of the Gargoyles by Rebecca Chastain!!

So this author did something cool for me. She remembered how much I loved her urban fantasy A Fistful of Evil, she offered me a copy of Magic of the Gargoyles, a fantasy novella featuring adorable baby gargoyles in peril. I have decided that this author is a MUST READ! Now let me tell you why :)

Pages: 79
Synopsis:
With baby gargoyles’ lives on the line, there’s no time for hesitation.

Mika Stillwater thrives at being ordinary. She’s a mid-level earth elemental with a strong quartz specialty and a basic grasp of the other four magical elements. Her highest ambition is to open her own shop as a quartz artisan, and she’s worked tirelessly to become her own boss. The last thing she expects is to be swept into the gritty criminal underworld of Terra Haven.

A nest of helpless kidnapped baby gargoyles are being used as pentagram focuses, where their magic—and their lives—are being devoured by those greedy for horrific, illegal power boosts. But the heinous trappers missed one gargoyle. Naïvely, the free gargoyle believes Mika is the only person who can be trusted to rescue the captured gargoyles.

Mika must jeopardize everything she’s worked so hard for to have a chance at being the hero the baby gargoyles desperately need. If she fails, not only will the gargoyles die but the city will be at the mercy of the gargoyles’ murderers’ overwhelming destructive magic.

Is it possible for someone ordinary to achieve the extraordinary?

My Review
I freaking love this book! I am seriously hoping this turns into a series- I have a feeling it will because we have gargoyles on the loose here, but I NEED another one. I have fallen in love with everyone! I read it way too fast, it is short but I wanted more! And gargoyles have been my thing lately. They are now up there with werewolves and dragons!

We start with Mika. She's a normal not really powerful witch. Well, I'm gunna use witch so no one gets confused, but I will let you find out exactly what she is when you read. Anyways, Mika is trying to better herself. She works hard for barely anything. She is trying to use her magic skills to open her own business. Her roommate and BFF Kylie, she wants to be a big time reporter. And when Mika accidentally meets a baby gargoyle, then saves another, things go up in the air. And Mika is too good a person to let them be defenseless. I loved meeting the gargoyles, all of them, and their structure. I thought it was awesome that when they met Mika and figured out how she wanted to help, they basically bonded with her.

The bad guy who steals baby gargoyles wants to use their powers for his evil. Yes, I wanted to smash him over the head with sharp heavy objects. But no need, we have Mika and baby gargoyles. Oh and some big gargoyles too. I loved the plot. I loved everything about this book. The writing is excellent, the pace is quick. There's no major info dumps or things to side track you. All I can say is I think you should read this. And now I need to beg Ms Rebecca to alternate giving me Maddi and Mika!! I need both ladies and their stories! GIMME... pretty please :) 5 AMAZING GARGOYLE PAWS!!! ;)

My 5 PAW review is HERE!

Madison Fox just learned that her ability to see souls is more than a sight: It’s a weapon for fighting evil. The only problem is she doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing. On the positive side, her money problems are over, she’s possibly discovered her purpose in life, and her coworker is smoking hot. On the negative side, evil creatures now actively hunt her, and deadly experiences are becoming the norm.

When she thinks it couldn’t get worse, a powerful evil sets up shop at a local hotel’s video game convention, and it’s got its eye on more than the gaming geeks: it is hungry for Madison’s soul. Madison needs to become an expert illuminant enforcer overnight to save her job, her region . . . and her life.
