Survivor Pass By Shirleen Davies!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Survivor Pass, Book Five, Redemption Mountain Historical Western  Romance Series

“The Redemption Mountain series is as good as historical romance  gets—vivid settings, memorable characters, love, and lots at stake.  Shirleen Davies knows how to bring the old west to life. You feel as if you've traveled, with the characters, to the frontier. I hope there will be  more to come!” Book Review

He thought he’d found a quiet life…

Cash Coulter settled into a life far removed from his days of fighting for the South and crossing the country as a bounty hunter. Now a deputy sheriff, Cash wants nothing more than to buy some land, raise cattle, and build a simple life in the frontier town of Splendor, Montana. But his whole world shifts when his gaze lands on the most captivating woman he’s ever seen. And the feeling appears to be mutual.

But nothing is as it seems…

Alison McGrath moved from her home in Kentucky to the rugged mountains of  Montana for one reason—to find the man responsible for murdering her brother. Despite using a false identity to avoid any tie to her brother’s name, the citizens of Splendor have no intention of sharing their knowledge about the bank robbery which killed her only sibling. Alison knows her circle of lies can’t end well, and her growing for Cash threatens to weaken the revenge which drives her.

And the troubles are mounting

There is danger surrounding them both—men who seek vengeance as a way to silence the past…by any means necessary.

Survivor Pass is book five in the Redemption Mountain historical western romance series. It is a full length novel with an HEA.

Alison’s breath hitched when she felt Cash’s hands grip her waist, but she couldn’t pull away, didn’t want to break the contact. His large palms and strong fingers almost spanned her slim body, drawing her closer as his gaze held hers.

She’d been kissed once by a boy from a neighboring farm. It had lasted seconds and made no impression, other than causing her to grimace and swipe an arm  across her mouth. He’d wanted to do it again. Instead, she’d pushed him away, turned, and ran as fast as possible back to her home. Her feelings today couldn’t be more different.

Although unwise and against all her plans, Alison looked up, her tongue darting out to moisten her lips. She closed her eyes at the feel of his lips brushing hers.

On a low groan, Cash slanted his mouth over hers, ignoring the warnings in his head in favor of the sensations she made him feel. Warmth spread through his body as she allowed him to take control, sweeping his tongue into her mouth when her lips parted on a sigh. She tasted of coffee and pie. He couldn’t get enough and deepened the kiss, tightening his hold, aligning his body with hers.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, brushing her fingers through his hair.
Her taste, touch, and unique scent messed with his rational thought and common sense. For a man used to dealing with situations in cool, dispassionate logic, Cash felt all control slip away as their embrace and actions became more zealous.

Knowing he had to stop before the passion caused them both to lose all restraint, he broke the kiss, resting his forehead against hers, his breathing unsteady and ragged.

Taking a step back, Alison looked into eyes reflecting the same desire and confusion she felt. When he placed one more kiss on her forehead, she inhaled a deep breath, touching a finger to her still sensitive lips.
Clearing his throat, Cash grasped her hand in his. “We should be going before we lose sight of the path.”

Unable to form a coherent thought, Alison nodded, leaving her hand in his as he guided her off the hill and back toward town. Neither of them spoke until they stood outside the door to her shop. At least the time had allowed her to get her breathing and erratic heartbeat under control.
“Thank you for a wonderful evening, Cash. It was…well…unexpected.”

Eyes dark and hooded, he pulled her close for one more kiss before setting her aside so as not to draw attention from those few people still on the street. Clearing his throat, he glanced around, searching for control.

“I’ll come by at noon tomorrow and we’ll head out to the Pelletier’s. That is if you’re still interested in going with me.”

“Yes, I’d like to go if you’re certain they won’t mind.” She sucked in a breath, realizing they’d be alone during the ride, posing a temptation she didn’t need. Alison wrapped her arms around her waist to help control the shivers from their brief, intense kiss. “Perhaps it would be best for me to wait. I don’t want to impose.” She let her gaze slowly move from his chest to the opening at the top of his shirt before traveling to his face, which now held an easy smirk.
“You’re not afraid to be alone with me, are you, Mrs. Burns?”

He leaned forward, his warm breath washing over her cheeks, his lips brushing hers. Drawing away and straightening her shoulders, she glared at him. “Of course not, Mr. Coulter.”

Moving close to her ear, he lowered his already husky voice. “You should be, Alison.”

Shirleen Davies writes romance—historical, contemporary, and romantic suspense. She grew up in Southern California, attended Oregon State University, and has degrees from San Diego State University and the University of Maryland. During the day she provides consulting services to small and mid-sized businesses. But her real passion is writing emotionally charged stories of flawed people who find redemption through love and acceptance.  She now lives with her husband in a beautiful town in northern Arizona.

Happy Book Birthday~ Cornered by JA Belfield!!

And the blurb:

Daniel Larsen is playing a dangerous game, and he doesn’t even know it.

A two-wheeled speedster. A little redhead in a bar. Evenings spent away from his pack. Innocent enough for most, but for Danny, the combination leads down a path of destruction and straight to a hell he doesn’t even see coming.

Entangled in a nightmare that started with his own brother and the cat he brought into their home, Dan’s driving himself toward a solitary existence—except for the curvaceous Olivia Fanella. Seduced by his new companion, and happy to ignore the divide growing between himself and the pack, Danny is oblivious to the trap being laid out for him.

Before long, Danny’s integrity gets questioned. His loyalty gets questioned. Hell, he even questions himself.

On top of that, just when he believes life might be going a little better, he gets served the roughest shot he could never have imagined—not even in his worst nightmares—and Danny has no idea how to come back from a hit like that.

My Review

I'm one of the very fortunate people who get to beta read for Ms Belfield. Let me tell you how this one went... I had to read it twice, because the first time, I was so into the story, I never even thought to look for plot holes- she didn't have any- or misspellings or even little boo boos. And if you look around you'll see a quote by me describing this book. I wasn't lying with this quote but the book is so much more than that.

First I felt sorry for Danny. I know he was taking the Kyle and Brooke relationship  hard but then I was mad because he needed to figure out that mates are just as serious a relationship as brothers. Then I felt sorry because he really was sad that he felt Kyle pushed him away and chose Brooke over him. I know it’s a protection  thing but Kyle never tried to help the situation, though I like brooke even more now :) Then I literally cried for him. So, if you hadn't read the last book- SHAME ON YOU- Kyle did something not so nice. Instead of being a man about things, he hid and when the family found out he got hostile and Danny was the one who took the brunt. And then if you remember the crazy biatch from Caged, well you'll remember she never died. And boy does she cause some serious hell for the Holloway pack. Oh my God, I cried. For a guy because Danny seriously broke my heart. I never want even my worst enemy- I don't really have those but still, to go through what Danny did. And Ethan and Kyle- thank you!! For sitting in a truck all night :) Damny owes you for it but I commend you!! Lol!

Now Olivia, I like her tons. She's actually normal, by normal I mean human. No specialties about her except that she's extraordinary in her own right. I think she is perfect for Danny and wait til you get her shocker at the end. Seriously, I whooped out loud when Olivia finally tracked Danny down and laid that little tidbit on him. Oh yeah it's gunna be a wild ride lol! I know that the books coming will be epic. And yes, you will actually see my real name in this book. The author had a contest for naming a character and I won and my character is going to have some serious goodness coming her way in the future- I just know it!! And this last little thing- I've read all kinds of books, and all of Ms Belfield's included, I'm still obsessed with Ethan, but I think Danny and Liv have beaten every other book's sex scene. Not because it's super racy or even majorly erotic, but because it's the most heartfelt and realistic. When the person you are falling for finally gives themselves to the other, it's not going to be perfect or spot on, nerves and insecurities will be there and Ms Belfield captured it beautifully!! And passion- can't forget that part and it's full of passion throughout this whole book!!!

When I sent in my thoughts for beta reading I have Ms B. 5 scenes that made me feel the most, because this one is definitely more emotional than the rest. You'll have to read why. And when you finish, let me know how your jaw dropped so we can discuss this!! The writing skills this woman has is sometimes just awe inspiring. I'm a huge werewolf fan, but Ms B doesn't just focus in being a werewolf, people have friends and family and jobs and responsibility and that makes it so much more real and effective. Hell Danny meets my character at small diner, and sometimes people forget when writing to portray the little things. I love this author. I love this series. And I'm damn sure recommending it!! :) 5 WOLFY PAWS!!!

Withering Rose (Once Upon a Curse #2)
by Kaitlyn Davis
Genre: YA Fantasy/Fairy Tale Retelling
Release Date: May 17th 2016

 **A USA Today Recommended Series!**

What if Beauty was cursed, and the Beast was the only one who could save her? Don't miss WITHERING ROSE, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Beauty & The Beast. This is the second book in Once Upon A Curse, a series of interconnected stand-alone novels all set in the same fantasy universe.

"As the heat finally disappeared, I felt the bloom blossom in the very core of my soul, a rose just like my name—a ticking clock hidden behind a façade of beauty. From that moment on, my life would become a countdown, and all I could do was wait and watch as the petals of time slowly started to fall."

Omorose Bouchene has a secret—magic. There's only one problem. At the age of seven, an earthquake struck, catapulting her into a new world. A land made of skyscrapers and cell phones. Fast cars and fluorescent lights. A land where magic isn't supposed to exist and anyone who wields it is the enemy.

But after ten years of hiding, she's desperate to find a place where she can be free. Because all magic comes with a curse, and her curse is time—every ounce of power she uses strips days off of her life. The clock is winding down, and the only option left is to escape to the realm ruled by a man known only as the Beast. But the king of monsters isn’t what he seems. And the more Omorose opens her heart, the more she comes to realize that the only person she may need to fear is herself.

**My Review

Wow!!! I don't know why it always surprises me how truly magnificent Ms Davis's writing skills really are!! I have loved everything she's written. And though her dragon series stole my heart many moons ago, I'm still completely in love with this series. And Withering Rose is extra special, plus the name is a literal meaning for the story. Ok let me see if I can tell you about things without ruining the real goodies for you :) So in the last book we learned about the earthquake that mixed the magical and non magical worlds. We also met Jade and Asher whom I still adore!! But Omorose, aka Rose, and Cole, well they have their own little curse going on. And it's even worse than we thought. I can't tell you everything but I will let a few things slip.

Rose is special. When the story opens, she's young but strong and willful and full of passion. But within moments everything changes and Rose did not have an easy time for the last 10 years. And humans want to destroy everything magical so she's trapped, hiding for her own survival and the safety of her father. But she's had enough. She runs to the place where "the beast" lives. He's the closest place of magic to where she is stationed and she wants to live, not just breath for survival. But she is so not expecting what she finds. The king of the beasts is a gorgeous guy, not much older than her, and though he's been basically secluded, he has a big heart, he's just shut it off from everyone. And Cole, well just like beauty and the beast, when you take a moment to actually see him for who he is and not what he is, you can't help but completely fall in love with him. And when you find out his story, lawd the tears. It's so sad.

The twists of how the curses come into place are just great. The classic fairy tales have been bettered by Ms Davis's creativity. And seriously, seeing Asher and Jade for a moment just made my day. And though all is not completely happy, we're pretty darn close. And that little shocker at the end, my jaw dropped. I can't wait to see the next book. I know I gotta wait a while for it, but it's so worth it. I loved the pack of wolves and the super sweet snow leopard. And I loved Rose's dad, even if I think he sheltered her too much, I know he never did it to hurt her but to keep her safe. I'm glad some of that is better. And the writing. It's just beautiful what the scenes felt like and the twist of the "withering rose", well it's perfect! No it's not like the beauty and the beast original, Ms Davis put a spin on that too and I loved it. Gotta keep everyone on their toes! And to Ms Davis- I gotta say-- THANK YOU!!! For keeping me updated when I harass you and for writing utterly spectacular stories! To everyone else- pick up a book by Ms Davis. My first recommendations would be the first in this series- Gathering Frost, and the first of her dragon series. Though that one is different it's flipping fantastic! Just pick up any book by her! You won't regret it. My regret is I can't magically make her books come to me faster lol! Well done!! I'm ready for round three :) 5 MAGICAL BEARY PAWS!! And WOLFY paws too:)

Gathering Frost (Once Upon a Curse #1)

RAVE REVIEWS for Gathering Frost!

"My favorite thing about this book is the action. Jade isn't a sleeping princess. She's the best fighter and so fierce in her "empty" state. I felt like this was an urban fantasy with all the steam of a romance, and it was almost perfect for me." - Jessie Potts, USA TODAY Happy Ever After Blog

"Davis writes with confidence and poise, and the story's many twists and turns stave off predictability and allow readers to become immersed in a starkly magical world filled with last hopes." - Publisher's Weekly

"Gathering Frost is just awesome in every way. Beautiful prose, lots of heart-wrenching emotion, action and romance, a great, unstoppable villain, and a smart, tough heroine who will fight for what she wants." - Geeks in High School

"The writing is flawless as always and I must say, way to take a classic and make such a creative and wonderful twist to it...It's well thought out and it unbelievably magnificent. I seriously couldn't put it down. Wait I never actually put it down. I started and finished in one sitting because it's just that good. This one is a MUST READ." - Happy Tails and Tales Blog

Excerpt 2:

The healing burn of the sun pinned Margery to the ground. Her eyes wouldn’t open, but she could see the blazing orange from under her lids. She’d been saved. Pressing her cheek against the sun-warmed grass, she took a deep breath of fresh air for the first time in a week. Coughs racked her body. She was still so weak. A tear leaked out of her eye.
Please don’t cry, chérie. You’re safe here.”
That was the lake dragon. The one who’d helped rescue her. Margery’s hands clutched the ground. She was no longer on the water, trapped in a smuggler’s hold hidden under the deck of a yacht. No longer lying in her own waste, dying a slow and painful death.
Where am I?” she asked, her words coming out as a strangled whisper.
You’re at my home in North Hero, Vermont. It’s very private here.”
He had a sexy way of talking. French Canadian accent, if she wasn’t mistaken. It was comforting, nonthreatening. Margery stretched as the healing sunbeams sank into her core.
Your kidnappers have been brought to justice.”
They were more than kidnappers. In return for pimping Margery out to Champ, they had wanted him to turn a blind eye to their smuggling operation on his lake.
The doll!
Margery bolted upright and regretted it immediately. “Where is it?” she cried. The sun blinded her, but she didn’t care. She groped around with her hands.
What?” he said, panic in his voice.
The Smooshie.”
What the hell is a—” Champ cut himself off and continued in a more polite tone. “I don’t understand, my Queen.”
Queen? Oh, right.
The red dragon doll. I had it in my hand when you rescued me. It’s very important.”
Uh, hold on. Let me check my truck.”
She heard him run.
Great. He probably thought she was an idiot looking for her little dolly.
Rubbing her eyes, Margery tried to stand up. But her legs refused to obey her, muscles trembling as she strained to rise.
The pirates had grabbed her when her camera’s flash malfunctioned and went off while she was taking pictures of their illicit activity—stuffing the dolls with drugs. When they saw her, they tried to kill her. If she’d been human, they would have. But when the bullets tore into her, she had instinctively shifted into her sky dragon form.
She’d only been a dragon for three weeks. Actually, she had always been a dragon, but an ancient curse had stopped her shift at puberty and blocked her dragon magic. When that curse was shattered, all the suppressed Queens shifted into their true forms. It took a lot of getting used to. The first week, all she did was cry and break things. The second week she flew around the world over and over again until sheer exhaustion claimed her. By the time the third week rolled around, Margery figured she’d better get over herself and return to her career as an investigative reporter.

My Review

I absolutely love this series!! It's become so much fun to see how everyone who was "emerged" in dragon form after the curse was broken. I still freaking love seeing viola and Sergei and carolyn and reed. So we see some of our old friends meet up with new friends. Marge- I gave a her a nick name- and Remy Champlain, aka Champ. And we can't forget our not so humble Chinese rock star dragon. It was hilarious seeing him try to be humble which just didn't happen. Lol and we're finally seeing what our bad guy has been doing- stealing drugs to give to humans to further a greedy dragon cause. Can't say more than that thought.

So Champ is a water dragon- his mommy is none other than Nessie!!- and when he helps rescue Marge from the boat that held her captive, he can't help himself, it was his territory she was hurt on so he will protect her while she heals. Yeah they just can't help themselves either, except they have to because so many things get in their way. First, Marge has a form of PTSD, then bad guys try to kill her, then studs are popping up from every corner because she's a new queen, and then because things just happen. Lol! I loved that Marge was her own person, she would never let turning into a dragon queen change her, she's a reporter and she always will be. She's not formal and she will not abide by stupid rules. I loved seeing the three girls together too! And Remy is his own hero. He knows that since Marge is a sky dragon, he can't have her, he's a water dragon, and sky dragons can only mate in one way, and he can't do that. But that doesn't stop him from wanting to give his life to protect hers.

And so we have a very fun adventure, with some enlightening things happening that will effect future books, and on top of that, I am super pumped with what I know now and how things are turning out for the series. I am also thrilled that there's more books coming in the future! YAY!!!! So of course I say, fantastic writing, excellent addition to the series, and I just adore these crazy dragons!! 5 PAWS!!!

And don't miss the rest of the Emerging Queens series:

FBI dragon Reed’s disdain for humans can’t mask the magnetic attraction he has for Carolyn, but when she tells him she’s going to shift into a dragon he thinks she’s crazy. A female hasn’t been hatched, or shape shifted, in over a thousand years. He’s proven wrong after Carolyn shifts and is named the new Queen on the block. When the Cult of Humanity kidnaps Carolyn to sacrifice her, Reed must face his fears—and feelings, racing to save the woman he realizes he can’t live without.

Viola Pierce has never had particularly great luck with guys. That is, until the day she shifts into a glorious, deadly, three-headed dragon. As it turns out, Viola is a dragon Queen. As a rule, Sergei hates Queens, but the Viola's beauty and humanity reach something deep within him. When she names him her protector and consort—quite by accident—a heated and unexpected attraction grows. But the dragon court is ruthless...and what doesn't kill Viola will only make her more dangerous.
